Financials: Bank of America (BAC)
\n
Over the last decade, Bank of America has streamlined and refined its business practices and operations to rise from one of the lowest rated banks in the country to the second-largest bank by assets (roughly $2.3 trillion in total assets). With assets of $3 trillion, JPMorgan Chase is the biggest.
\n
As the economy continues to recover from the pandemic and inflation continues to surge, interest rates are likely to rise, putting the bank is in a good position to continue its success. Banks benefit from higher rates through a wider \"spread\" — the difference in interest that they pay to customers and what they earn by investing.
\n
And despite not quite hitting its earning mark last quarter, Bank of America delivered shareholders a dividend hike — upping its yield 17% from 18 cents to 21 cents per share. Currently, the shares offer a dividend yield of 1.9%.
\n
2. Consumer Staples: PepsiCo (PEP)
\n
Pepsico is so much more than a major cola and soda brand. Most consumers will be aware that Mountain Dew and Gatorade fall under the Pepsico umbrella.
\n
But this food and beverage juggernaut also owns Frito-Lay, Quaker Foods, Tropicana, SodaStream and dozens of other brands across the world.
\n
With everyone spending so much time at home, snack food consumption went way up during the pandemic — which was great news for Pepsi. In July, the company reported that net sales rose more than 20% year over year to $19.22 billion — nicely above expectations of $18 billion.
\n
And the company is passing on some of those sweet (or salty, depending on your taste) dollars to shareholders through healthy dividends, which have been steadily increasing over the years. Over the past ten years, Pepsico's dividend has grown at a compounded rate of 7.7% versus 6.1% from its main rival Coca-Cola.
\n
Pepsico shares offer a dividend yield of 2.8%.
\n
3. Health care: Johnson & Johnson (JNJ)
\n
Between its business in medical devices, pharmaceuticals and consumer packaged goods, Johnson & Johnson has become a household name.
\n
And more than that, its numerous subsidiaries including Band-Aid, Tylenol, Neutrogena, Listerine and Clean & Clear could stand on their own as successful brands.
\n
JNJ’s diverse holdings in the health care segment ensures it’s able to ride out any economic slumps. And with a handful of industry-leading drugs for immunology and cancer treatment under its Janssen Pharamceutica arm, there’s a good deal of growth opportunity for JNJ.
\n
The company’s Q2 results were buoyed by $12.59 billion in revenue from its COVID-19 shot over the year — with global sales of $164 million in the second quarter alone.
\n
JNJ shared its success with shareholders through a dividend of $1.06 in the third quarter, up from $1.01 six months before.
\n
The stock currently has a dividend yield of 2.7%.
","source":"lsy1612507957220","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Without exception, they have opted in favor of financial stability, followed by real economic activity, with inflation last.
\n
As a result, the only advanced-economy central bank to raise interest rates since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic has been Norway’s Norges Bank, which lifted its policy rate from zero to 0.25% on Sept. 24. While it has hinted that an additional rate increase is likely in December, and that its policy rate could reach 1.7% toward the end of 2024, that is merely more evidence of monetary policy makers’ extreme reluctance to implement the kind of rate increases that are required to achieve a 2% inflation target consistently.
\n
\n Today’s risk-asset valuations are utterly detached from reality.\n
\n
Central banks’ overwhelming reluctance to pursue interest-rate and balance-sheet policies compatible with their inflation targets should come as no surprise. In the years between the start of the Great Moderation in the mid-1980s and the 2007-08 financial crisis, advanced-economy central banks failed to give sufficient weight to financial stability. A prime example was the Bank of England’s loss of all supervisory and regulatory powers when it was granted operational independence in 1997.
\n
Prioritize financial stability over inflation
\n
The result was a financial disaster and a severe cyclical downturn. Confirming the logic of “once bitten, twice shy,” central banks then responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by pursuing unprecedentedly aggressive policies to ensure financial stability. But they also went far beyond what was required, pulling out all the policy stops to support real economic activity.
\n
Central banks were right to prioritize financial stability over price stability, considering that financial stability itself is a prerequisite for sustainable price stability (and for some central banks’ other target, full employment). Without exception, they have opted in favor of financial stability, followed by real economic activity, with inflation last.\nAs a result, the only advanced-economy central bank to raise interest rates since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic has been Norway’s Norges Bank, which lifted its policy rate from zero to 0.25% on Sept. 24. While it has hinted that an additional rate increase is likely in December, and that its policy rate could reach 1.7% toward the end of 2024, that is merely more evidence of monetary policy makers’ extreme reluctance to implement the kind of rate increases that are required to achieve a 2% inflation target consistently.\n\nToday’s risk-asset valuations are utterly detached from reality.\n\nCentral banks’ overwhelming reluctance to pursue interest-rate and balance-sheet policies compatible with their inflation targets should come as no surprise. In the years between the start of the Great Moderation in the mid-1980s and the 2007-08 financial crisis, advanced-economy central banks failed to give sufficient weight to financial stability. A prime example was the Bank of England’s loss of all supervisory and regulatory powers when it was granted operational independence in 1997.\nPrioritize financial stability over inflation\nThe result was a financial disaster and a severe cyclical downturn. Confirming the logic of “once bitten, twice shy,” central banks then responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by pursuing unprecedentedly aggressive policies to ensure financial stability. But they also went far beyond what was required, pulling out all the policy stops to support real economic activity.\nCentral banks were right to prioritize financial stability over price stability, considering that financial stability itself is a prerequisite for sustainable price stability (and for some central banks’ other target, full employment). The economic and social cost of a financial crisis, especially with private and public leverage as high as it is today, would dwarf the cost of persistently overshooting the inflation target. Obviously, very high inflation rates must be avoided, because they, too, can become a source of financial instability; but if preventing a financial calamity requires a few years of high single-digit inflation, the price is well worth it.\n\nThere is not enough resilience in non-central bank balance sheets to address a fire sale of distressed assets or a run on commercial banks or other systemically important financial institutions that hold liquid liabilities and illiquid assets.\n\nI hope (and expect) that central banks—not least the Federal Reserve—are ready to respond appropriately if the U.S. federal government breaches its “debt ceiling” on or around Oct. 18. All o","content":"
Social media traders on communities such as Reddit’sr/WallStreetBets have had an amazing 2021. All of Wall Street stopped what it was doing to watch the excitement in GameStop(NYSE:GME), BlackBerry(NYSE:BB) and other such meme stocks during their historic January short squeezes.
\n
After Robinhood temporarily suspended trading in GME stock and other meme names, however, it seemed like the party was over. GME stock, for example crashed from $400 to $40 at one point. However, the Reddit traders have had the last laugh. GameStop surged once again in May and this time, it has held onto its gains.
\n
The WallStreetBets community remains a large and powerful force. While there isn’t quite the same buzz as there was in January — and admittedly some of the energy has moved to cryptocurrencies — meme stocks remain a potent force. However, not everything that gets popular on Reddit or has a high short interest will become the next GameStop. In fact, there are quite a few firms that have scarcely little going on to justify their current valuations.
\n
These are seven meme stocks to sell now, while their share prices are still at respectable levels:
\n
\n
Vinco Ventures(NASDAQ:BBIG)
\n
iBio(NYSEAMERICAN:IBIO)
\n
Genius Brands(NASDAQ:GNUS)
\n
XspresSpa Group(NASDAQ:XSPA)
\n
Electrameccanica(NASDAQ:SOLO)
\n
Uranium Energy(NYSEAMERICAN:UEC)
\n
Sphere 3D(NASDAQ:ANY)
\n
\n
Meme Stocks to Sell: Vinco Ventures (BBIG)
\n
Vinco Ventures got one part of the social media playbook right: It has a great ticker symbol. BBIG practically just begs to be “memed.” The Reddit community around the stock is full of clever wordplay for the hot media firm.
\n
As for the actual business? It’s much less promising. The company brings back a key figure from theMoviePass debacleto head up a TikTok rival. It also has an operation devoted to non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Perhaps there is a place for a TikTok clone in a world that is increasingly preoccupied about cybersecurity threats and the Chinese government’s behavior.
\n
Still, given the relative small scale of the video business, investors should be highly skeptical of the stock here. Judging by the CEO’s past experience with MoviePass, there’s a good chance Vinco could burn through a load of investor funds before ignominiously ceasing operations.
\n
iBio (IBIO)
\n
In 2020, IBIO stock spiked from 30 cents to as high as $6 per share. A previously little-known biotech firm, it generated a ton of attention around a potential Covid-19 vaccine. However, historically, iBio has enjoyed similar waves of positive attention from press releases about potential products for other pandemics. However, the company has never managed to convert that potential into real-world revenues or profits.
\n
Covid-19 appears to be playing out the same way for iBio. Despite numerous seeminglypositive developments, the company has little to show for it. The company generated just $3 million in revenues over the past 12 months. More surprisingly, it spent just $7 million on research and development costs over the past year. It seems unlikely that a leading Covid-19 vaccine will be developed on that sort of barebones budget.
\n
While the peak of social media excitement around IBIO stock was back in 2020, trading volume has remained elevated this year. Traders are looking at the 7% short interest in shares and hoping it makes another run-up. However, it seems the market opportunity is passing for Covid-19 biotechs that don’t have a product on the market yet.
\n
And don’t let the low share price fool you. IBIO has a sizable $250 million market capitalization given the company’s serial stock issuances. Shares will likely fall far lower as any residual interest in the company’s early stage Covid projects fade.
\n
Meme Stocks to Sell: Genius Brands (GNUS)
\n
Genius Brands is a fledgling media company attempted to carve out a niche for itself in the children’s entertainment space. The company seemed ideal for a meme stock, as it had a catchy name and is targeting an industry that resonates with a large group of traders.
\n
That said, despite a blizzard of press releases over the past year, Genius has failed to transform any of its potential into financial results. As our Josh Enomoto recently put it,speculation might not save GNUS stock. The company’s (lack of) positive fundamentals is really starting to drag on the company.
\n
In the company’s most recent quarter, it brought in just $1.1 million of revenues. Yes, you read that figure right. Meanwhile, it generated a GAAP loss of 27 cents per share on that quarter. That’s a rather sizable loss for a company whose stock trades south of $2. Genius can keep touting its new shows and celebrity deals, but with quarterly revenues this small, the company is light years away from becoming a media empire.
\n
XpresSpa (XSPA)
\n
XpresSpa is a company focused on airport-based health and wellness centers. Prior to Covid-19, these could be categorized as day spas that helped travelers relax and pass the time between flights. That line of business became untenable due to the pandemic. So the company quickly pivoted to running Covid-19 testing centers out of its airport locations.
\n
In theory, this made a lot of sense. In practice, however, demand for testing services at airports appears to be relatively low. Last quarter, the company generated just $9.1 million in revenues while losing $4.7 million overall. While the pandemic continues to drag on, it seems airport testing simply hasn’t become a large enough market to allow the company to reach profitability.
\n
Meanwhile, it’s unclear on what timeline the company might be able to revert to its prior business model. It should also be noted that the company lost money before the pandemic as well. While momentum traders bid up XSPA stock as a Covid-19 play, the business has shown few signs of tangible success at any point.
\n
A baffling thing about XpresSpa is that it recently announced a 15 million sharestock buyback. In general, share buybacks are good for shareholders. However, typically companies actually generate profits and positive cash flow from operations before buying back their own stock.
\n
XpresSpa, by contrast, has a long history of large operating losses. It has had to issue stock in the past to fund its operations. So it’s unclear why the company would spend precious capital now to repurchase shares rather than invest those funds into helping the business reach profitability. This seems like a gimmick to try to induce a short squeeze rather than a strategic financial decision. In any case, traders shouldn’t get on board with XSPA stock.
\n
Meme Stocks to Sell: Electrameccanica (SOLO)
\n
Electrameccanica was a hot electric vehicle (EV) stock early in 2021. Shares spiked from $3 to as high as $13 on excitement around the launch of its innovative one-seat EV. As the company notes, 80% of vehicle trips are with just one person, so the SOLO vehicle aims to provide everything a single person would need for their daily commute and driving around town.
\n
The car is eye-catching and the concept is certainly different. However, it’s far from certain that much actual consumer demand exists for this product. While most vehicle trips may be without passengers, it’s still useful to have room for more people or cargo on occasion. And SOLO’s price point is too high for most people to buy one in addition to their usual larger vehicle.
\n
Last quarter, the company produced just 25 SOLO vehicles. Its lifetime total of 78 vehicles produced is hardly more inspiring. It wasn’t hard to see the appeal of SOLO stock back when there were few other publicly traded EV stocks. Now, however, as the market is flooded with EV alternatives, a novelty like Electrameccanica has long since lost its appeal.
\n
Uranium Energy (UEC)
\n
Uranium has positively exploded in recent weeks. A popular WallStreetBets post, “Uranium: Start of a Commodity Supercycle”published two weeks ago has taken on viral fame.
\n
That original post has some solid due diligence to it. The author explains the theory of a potential supply shortage in the uranium market for nuclear power plants. It also goes through the mechanics of how a trust that is buying physical uranium could trigger a short squeeze.
\n
That’s all well and good, but it matters little to UEC stock. Uranium Energy is a company that intends to mine uranium in the United States. However, it has largely failed at this. It last generated commercial revenues from uranium production way back in 2015. Now, the company keeps running via stock offerings.
\n
Management’s latest corporate presentation suggests that production may start up again at some point soon. That’s fine. But the company has gone many years now without generating revenues and didn’t produce an annual profit in a single year over the past decade. Now, though, thanks to the uranium short squeeze, UEC stock’s market capitalization has exploded to $750 million. That’s far too high for a company with such a spotty track record.
\n
Meme Stocks to Sell: Sphere 3D (ANY)
\n
Sphere3D is a small long-running technology company. Shares traded up to a split-adjusted $2,000 each at one point back in 2014. The company had merged together a variety of assets and aimed to become a leading virtualization software firm.
\n
Sphere3D reached a peak of $76 million in revenues in 2016. Operations soon collapsed, however, with annual revenues dropping more than 90% since then. The stock price imploded along with the business. So, not surprisingly, Sphere3D is now pivoting.
\n
To that end, Sphere3D is merging with a cryptocurrency mining firm, Gryphon Digital Mining. Gryphon aims to revolutionize the crypto-mining space through a focus on costs. It has secured lower-cost hydroelectric power which could give it a leg up on the competition. However, there are a ton of crypto mining firms out there now.
\n
It’s much too early to say that Sphere 3D and Gryphon will be able to disrupt the existing leaders. And, given Sphere 3D’s unfortunate history, traders should look to take profits on the rare occasions when ANY stock rallies.
","source":"lsy1606302653667","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
7 Meme Stocks to Sell Before They Go to $0
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n7 Meme Stocks to Sell Before They Go to $0\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-09-17 10:29 GMT+8 investorplace\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Social media traders on communities such as Reddit’sr/WallStreetBets have had an amazing 2021. BBIG practically just begs to be “memed.” The Reddit community around the stock is full of clever wordplay for the hot media firm.\nAs for the actual business? It’s much less promising. The company brings back a key figure from theMoviePass debacleto head up a TikTok rival. It also has an operation devoted to non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Perhaps there is a place for a TikTok clone in a world that is increasingly preoccupied about cybersecurity threats and the Chinese government’s behavior.\nStill, given the relative small scale of the video business, investors should be highly skeptical of the stock here. Judging by the CEO’s past experience with MoviePass, there’s a good chance Vinco could burn through a load of investor funds before ignominiously ceasing operations.\niBio (IBIO)\nIn 2020, IBIO stock spiked from 30 cents to as high as $6 per share. A previously little-known biotech firm, it generated a ton of attention around a potential Covid-19 vaccine. However, historically, iBio has enjoyed similar waves of positive attention from press releases about potential products for other pandemics. However, the company has never managed to convert that potential into real-world revenues or profits.\nCovid-19 appears to be playing out the same way for iBio. Despite numerous seeminglypositive developments, the company has little to show for it. The company generated just $3 million in revenues over the past 12 months. More surprisingly, it spent just $7 million on research and development costs over the past year. It seems unlikely that a leading Covid-19 vaccine will be developed on that sort of barebones budget.\nWhile the peak of social media excitement around IBIO stock was back in 2020, trading volume has remained elevated this year. Traders are looking at the 7% short interest in shares and hoping it makes another run-up. However, it seems the market opportunity is passing for Covid-19 biotechs that don’t have a product on the market yet.\nAnd don’t let the low share price fool you. IBIO has a sizable $250 million market capitalization given the company’s serial stock issuances. Shares will likely fall far lower as any residual interest in the company’s early stage Covid projects fade.\nMeme Stocks to Sell: Genius Brands (GNUS)\nGenius Brands is a fledgling media company attempted to carve out a niche for itself in the children’s entertainment space. The company seemed ideal for a meme stock, as it had a catchy name and is targeting an industry that resonates with a large group of traders.\nThat said, despite a blizzard of press releases over the past year, Genius has failed to transform any of its potential into financial results. As our Josh Enomoto recently put it,speculation might not save GNUS stock. The company’s (lack of) positive fundamentals is really starting to drag on the company.\nIn the company’s most recent quarter, it brought in just $1.1 million of revenues. Yes, you read that figure right. Meanwhile, it generated a GAAP loss of 27 cents per share on that quarter. That’s a rather sizable loss for a company whose stock trades south of $2. Genius can keep touting its new shows and celebrity deals, but with quarterly revenues this small, the company is light years away from becoming a media empire.\nXpresSpa (XSPA)\nXpresSpa is a company focused on airport-based health and wellness centers. Prior to Covid-19, these could be categorized as day spas that helped travelers relax and pass the time between flights. That line of business became untenable due to the pandemic. So the company quickly pivoted to running Covid-19 testing centers out of its airport locations.\nIn theory, this made a lot of sense. In practice, however, demand for testing services at airports appears to be relatively low. Last quarter, the company generated just $9.1 million in revenues while losing $4.7 million overall. While the pandemic continues to drag on, it seems airport testing simply hasn’t become a large enough market to allow the company to reach profitability.\nMeanwhile, it’s unclear on what timeline the company might be able to revert to its prior business model. It should also be noted that the company lost money before the pandemic as well. While momentum traders bid up XSPA stock as a Covid-19 play, the business has shown few signs of tangible success at any point.\nA baffling thing about XpresSpa is that it recently announced a 15 million sharestock buyback. In general, share buybacks are good for shareholders. However, typically companies actually generate profits and positive cash flow from operations before buying back their own stock.\nXpresSpa, by contrast, has a long history of large operating losses. It has had to issue stock in the past to fund its operations. So it’s unclear why the company would spend precious capital now to repurchase shares rather than invest those funds into helping the business reach profitability. This seems like a gimmick to try to induce a short squeeze rather than a strategic financial decision. In any case, traders shouldn’t get on board with XSPA stock.\nMeme Stocks to Sell: Electrameccanica (SOLO)\nElectrameccanica was a hot electric vehicle (EV) stock early in 2021. Shares spiked from $3 to as high as $13 on excitement around the launch of its innovative one-seat EV. As the company notes, 80% of vehicle trips are with just one person, so the SOLO vehicle aims to provide everything a single person would need for their daily commute and driving around town.\nThe car is eye-catching and the concept is certainly different. However, it’s far from certain that much actual consumer demand exists for this product. While most vehicle trips may be without passengers, it’s still useful to have room for more people or cargo on occasion. And SOLO’s price point is too high for most people to buy one in addition to their usual larger vehicle.\nLast quarter, the company produced just 25 SOLO vehicles. Its lifetime total of 78 vehicles produced is hardly more inspiring. It wasn’t hard to see the appeal of SOLO stock back when there were few other publicly traded EV stocks. Now, however, as the market is flooded with EV alternatives, a novelty like Electrameccanica has long since lost its appeal.\nUranium Energy (UEC)\nUranium has positively exploded in recent weeks. A popular WallStreetBets post, “Uranium: Start of a Commodity Supercycle”published two weeks ago has taken on viral fame.\nThat original post has some solid due diligence to it. The author explains the theory of a potential supply shortage in the uranium market for nuclear power plants. It also goes through the mechanics of how a trust that is buying physical uranium could trigger a short squeeze.\nThat’s all well and good, but it matters little to UEC stock. Uranium Energy is a company that intends to mine uranium in the United States. However, it has largely failed at this. It last generated commercial revenues from uranium production way back in 2015. Now, the company keeps running via stock offerings.\nManagement’s latest corporate presentation suggests that production may start up again at some point soon. That’s fine. But the company has gone many years now without generating revenues and didn’t produce an annual profit in a single year over the past decade. Now, though, thanks to the uranium short squeeze, UEC stock’s market capitalization has exploded to $750 million. That’s far too high for a company with such a spotty track record.\nMeme Stocks to Sell: Sphere 3D (ANY)\nSphere3D is a small long-running technology company. Shares traded up to a split-adjusted $2,000 each at one point back in 2014. The company had merged together a variety of assets and aimed to become a leading virtualization software firm.\nSphere3D reached a peak of $76 million in revenues in 2016. Operations soon collapsed, however, with annual revenues dropping more than 90% since then. The stock price imploded along with the business. So, not surprisingly, Sphere3D is now pivoting.\nTo that end, Sphere3D is merging with a cryptocurrency mining firm, Gryphon Digital Mining. Gryphon aims to revolutionize the crypto-mining space through a focus on costs. It has secured lower-cost hydroelectric power which could give it a leg up on the competition. However, there are a ton of crypto mining firms out there now.\nIt’s much too early to say that Sphere 3D and Gryphon will be able to disrupt the existing leaders. And, given Sphere 3D’s unfortunate history, traders should look to take profits on the rare occasions when ANY stock rallies.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":329,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":897428390,"gmtCreate":1628970168710,"gmtModify":1633688282503,"author":{"id":"3574326262963990","authorId":"3574326262963990","name":"HOCK","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/88799e7ae4e69750fd2f85687a24a9e3","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574326262963990","authorIdStr":"3574326262963990"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$The end is near...https://fintel.io/so/us/amchttps://www.marketbeat.com/stocks/NYSE/AMC/institutional-ownership/","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$The end is near...https://fintel.io/so/us/amchttps://www.marketbeat.com/stocks/NYSE/AMC/institutional-ownership/","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$The end is near...https://fintel.io/so/us/amchttps://www.marketbeat.com/stocks/NYSE/AMC/institutional-ownership/","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/1282d43c8ef7cb2f8134501a44468974","width":"720","height":"892"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":11,"commentSize":6,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/897428390","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":797,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":888069298,"gmtCreate":1631413944914,"gmtModify":1631884176201,"author":{"id":"3574326262963990","authorId":"3574326262963990","name":"HOCK","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/88799e7ae4e69750fd2f85687a24a9e3","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574326262963990","authorIdStr":"3574326262963990"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$alot of anticipation in this coming week as we are seeing increading FTDs (15th Sep), uptrending week on week and large number of contracts expiring this week. Let’s hope we avoid the kind of excitement that followed.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":750,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"9000000000000161","authorId":"9000000000000161","name":"王无所不知","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/4ec8b377ac9ad32d941432c2e87c3f1b","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"9000000000000161","authorIdStr":"9000000000000161"},"content":"现在可以买吗?我挺看好的,就是怕亏,太怂了","text":"现在可以买吗?我挺看好的,就是怕亏,太怂了","html":"现在可以买吗?我挺看好的,就是怕亏,太怂了"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":157188169,"gmtCreate":1625572810251,"gmtModify":1633939535939,"author":{"id":"3574326262963990","authorId":"3574326262963990","name":"HOCK","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/88799e7ae4e69750fd2f85687a24a9e3","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574326262963990","authorIdStr":"3574326262963990"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$🦍🦍🦍 https://twitter.com/CEOAdam/status/1412376829688680453?s=19","listText":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$🦍🦍🦍 https://twitter.com/CEOAdam/status/1412376829688680453?s=19","text":"$AMC Entertainment(AMC)$🦍🦍🦍 https://twitter.com/CEOAdam/status/1412376829688680453?s=19","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/163fb023723072740aec7eb99ffdf6fd","width":"800","height":"533"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/157188169","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":943,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":171415557,"gmtCreate":1626755916379,"gmtModify":1633771315736,"author":{"id":"3574326262963990","authorId":"3574326262963990","name":"HOCK","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/88799e7ae4e69750fd2f85687a24a9e3","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3574326262963990","authorIdStr":"3574326262963990"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cough*** what will be the excuse next week? Is There Any Hope Left for AMC Entertainment Stock?
\n

\n
\n The company's short squeeze is rapidly losing momentum.\n
\n
Key Points
\n
\n
AMC may not have enough cash to fund research and development efforts to compete with movie-streaming services.
\n
The spread of more contagious variants of the coronavirus could thwart theater traffic and offset rising demand from movie backlogs.
\n
\n

\n
The traders of Reddit's Wall Street Bets community shocked the investment world this year by bidding upAMC Entertainment(NYSE:AMC), sending shares higher by nearly 3,000% at one point. However, at Friday's prices, the stock was down more than 40% from its June highs.
\n
Many traders held a \"buy first, ask questions later\" mentality when opening up a stake. But now, the time for questions has come. Can AMC deliversustained growthover the long term?
\n
Upcoming catalysts
\n
The COVID-19 pandemic has created a massive backlog of unreleased films. Production delays have played a role, but studio executives have also postponed releases until theaters reopened to maximize revenue. Over the next year, a number of big franchises will have new installments, includingJurassic Park,Batman,Transformers,John Wick,Avatar,Indiana Jones,MissionImpossible, and Marvel. Keep in mind that AMC is the largest theater chain in the country, with over 60% market share. So there's no doubt there would be an impressive boost to the company's bottom line when these movies hit the theaters (keep in mind that AMC's business wasn't consistently profitable before COVID, so even a blockbuster year may not be a sure thing).
\n
In addition, AMC may have been saved simply by the efforts of Reddit traders to boost the stock. Thanks to a high stock price, AMC raised $1.246 billion in cash via equity offerings in the second quarter alone. That increased its total liquidity to over $2 billion, against $5.5 billion of long-term debt.
\n
If AMC used the cash to pay back debt, then the return on investment would be immediate (we'll have to wait until second-quarter earnings on Aug. 5 to learn more). The average interest rate of AMC's debt exceeds 10%, and interest payments outweighed total revenue in the first quarter. Moreover, Adam Aron, the company's CEO, announced on July 6 that he would scrap a plan to issue 25 million additional shares. Aron does not anticipate any other stock offerings in 2021, which suggests the company believes its turnaround is on track. The company is acting as if it believes it has enough cash to execute its plans for now.
\n
Upcoming inhibitors
\n
A major risk ahead for AMC is the spread of the delta and lambda coronavirus variants in the country. Moviegoers may be inclined to stay at home and watch new releases on streaming services instead, especially when it comes to new releases available to both channels. As a result, don't expect the company's traffic to rebound to pre-pandemic levels anytime soon.
\n
In addition, it's not clear yet how the company could sustain its growth or earnings in the long term. After the movie backlog clears up, AMC would be competing with multiple movie-streaming services and home-entertainment enthusiasts for traffic. But it can't spare much cash for the sake of innovation; the company still needs to generate cash flow to pay off its ballooning debt stack. On top of that, it still owes $400 million in rent to theater landlords due to the lockdowns in the past year.
\n
The missing element
\n
The problem of achieving innovation is a big one in the long run, and AMC is stuck in a catch-22. There isn't anything stopping AMC from launching a paid subscription streaming service for new movies. However, that will inevitably cannibalize revenue from its theaters, leading to a net-zero outcome.
\n
Offering a subscription pass to its theaters wouldn't really work either. MoviePass had already attempted that. To match the value proposition of streaming services, the company had to price its pass at $10 per month, resulting in staggering losses before it went bankrupt.
\n
But the biggest killer of AMC's prospects going forward is probably a combination of 5G and synchronized viewing. For example, the social community platform Discord allows its users to stream movies via its screen-share feature. While the movie plays, users are free to talk with each other, eat their own food, and otherwise enjoy the experience in ways that might be taboo in an actual theatre.
\n
With the rise of 5G, folks can watch movies via screen sharing just about anywhere. Bored while swimming in the lake? Just boot up your phone and watch a movie stream with friends. The best part is that the activity is free; intellectual property laws haven't caught on to the innovation yet, resulting in a grey area. At the end of the day, it would be extremely difficult for AMC to compete with these \"mini-virtual theaters\" where patrons can watch from anywhere and do whatever they like while watching.
\n
The verdict
\n
Since its inception, AMC has lost a cumulative $5.9 billion, and that number is growing. Investors should note that aside from another near-term spike/short squeeze, there are not many fundamentals backing the company's long-term prospects. In addition, its inability to devote cash to innovation will almost guarantee more revenue and bottom-line woes in the long run. That's on top of its inability to compete with peer-to-peer synchronized movie-viewing experiences. At a forward-looking price-to-sales (P/S) ratio over 8, AMC stock looks incredibly expensive for a company that could yet fall off another cliff in terms of growth. Long-term investors looking forways to profit from the reopening economyshould stay away.
\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
AMC fell nearly 9% in morning trading
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nAMC fell nearly 9% in morning trading\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-07-19 21:49 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
(July 19) AMC fell nearly 9% in morning trading.
