United Arab Emirates — The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries on Wednesday arrived at a deal after a nearly two-week standoff over its future oil production levels, according to reports by theWall Street JournalandReuters.\nThe temporary but unprecedented gridlock that began in early July saw the United Arab Emirates reject a coordinated oil production plan for the group spearheaded by its kingpin, Saudi Arabia.\nAbu Dhabi had demanded that its own \"baseline\" for crude production — the maximum volume it's recognized by OPEC as being able to produce — be raised because this figure then determines the size of production cuts and quotas it must follow as per the group's output agreements. Members cut the same percentage from their baseline, so having a higher baseline would allow the UAE a greater production quota.\nThe UAE initially called for its baseline to be raised from 3.2 million barrels a day to 3.8 million barrels a day. According to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, the compromise reached between Saudi Arabia and its smaller neighbor will raise the UAE's baseline to 3.65 million barrels per day from April 2022. The reports have not been officially confirmed, and OPEC and the Saudi energy ministry did not reply to CNBC requests for comment.\nThe initial agreement supported by most OPEC delegates set out a plan for the group to collectively bring production up to 400,000 barrels of crude per day monthly through to the end of 2022. This would end the remaining limits that were set in the spring of 2020, as economic recovery and growing demand for oil have broughtcrude prices up to their highest level since late 2018.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":182,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":145012571,"gmtCreate":1626183051393,"gmtModify":1633929328895,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[微笑]","listText":"[微笑]","text":"[微笑]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/145012571","repostId":"1107596232","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":852,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":152999289,"gmtCreate":1625249546741,"gmtModify":1633942084046,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🥸","listText":"🥸","text":"🥸","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/152999289","repostId":"1196057674","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1196057674","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Stock Market Quotes, Business News, Financial News, Trading Ideas, and Stock Research by Professionals","home_visible":0,"media_name":"Benzinga","id":"1052270027","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/d08bf7808052c0ca9deb4e944cae32aa"},"pubTimestamp":1625229715,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1196057674?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-02 20:41","market":"us","language":"en","title":"5 Warren Buffett Favorites To Keep An Eye On","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1196057674","media":"Benzinga","summary":"Legendary investor Warren Buffett has posted an impressive 21% year-to-date return for his flagship Berkshire Hathaway Inc in the first half of 2021.Here's a look at five stocks owned by Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway that could see strong gains in the second half of 2021.Aonreportedfirst-quarter revenue up 10% year-over-year, including organic revenue growth of 6%. Aon:Earlier this year, Berkshire Hathaway took an initial position in insurance broker Aon plc(NYSE:AON). Shares of the company are up 15% year-to-date, could see more upside and could also be a position Buffett adds to.
\n
Aonreportedfirst-quarter revenue up 10% year-over-year, including organic revenue growth of 6%. The company’s margins improved and earnings per share grew 22% year-over-year. Aon announced a supply chain global protection plan for COVID-19 vaccines that could be a highlight in the next earnings report.
\n
2. Apple:There have been several rallies for technology stocks in the first half of 2021. Despite the rallies, shares of technology giant Apple Inc(NASDAQ:AAPL) traded flat in the first half of 2021.
\n
Apple makes up the largest stock holding in the Berkshire Hathaway portfolio. The iPhone maker continues to be an innovator and should not be overlooked for more product launches and announcements in the second half of the year that could move shares of the stock higher.
\n
3. Bank of America: Bank of America Corporation(NYSE:BAC) is a large holding of Buffett's and one of several bank stocks that he has kept. Buffett has significantly lowered the company’s weighting in Wells Fargo Co(NYSE:WFC), a stock it once owned 10% of and started investing in dating back to 1989.
\n
Bank of America could be Buffett's favored banking stock and it comes as the company reported record consumer investment assets and record client balances in thefirst quarter.
\n
Revenue for the first quarter of $22.8 billion was flat year-over-year but several areas saw strong demand and growth. The company announced it's raising its quarterly dividend from 18 cents to 21 cents in late June and could continue to raise dividends after passing a new bank stress test.
\n
4. Coca-Cola:One of Buffett's favorites is Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO). Shares of the beverage giant are down 1% in the first half of 2021 as many consumer food and beverage companies have seen positive returns. The company could be due to make a bigacquisitionlike that of Monster Beverage Corporation(NASDAQ:MNST) orpushing furtherinto alcoholic beverages.
\n
5. Several factors, however, have the potential to end the p","content":"
Stocks have soared relentlessly this year. Several factors, however, have the potential to end the party.
\n
The S&P 500 has had its second-best first half of a year since 1998, and it hasn’t shown many signs of letting up. The index ended June up 14.4% year to date, hitting several records during the month and posting another record close on Thursday.
\n
Yet there are a couple key risks that could turn all of that around, according to Nick Colas, co-founder of DataTrek.
\n
First, there’s the possibility of an oil price shock, as the price of crude has shown little sign of cooling off. WTI crude oil is up 56% year to date and notched a new multi-year high Thursday—even amid growing expectations that OPEC will increase supply. If oil prices run hot enough, that could raise inflation to a level that—if sustained — could cause consumer demand to fall and that could surpass Federal Reserve expectations.
\n
“Suddenly higher oil prices” is atop the list of stock market concerns for Colas. “Rapidly rising oil prices will cause U.S. inflation to overshoot the Fed’s desired outcome and also stress the American consumer.”
\n
Both those things could dent the stock market, which has long benefited from the Fed’s accommodative monetary policy, especially if the Fed signals that interest-rate increases could come sooner than expected.
\n
That means the Fed will need to tread carefully when discussing rates to avoid spooking the market, Colas says.
\n
“Federal Reserve miscommunication about upcoming policy changes and/or raising interest rates too aggressively” is a second risk, Colas says. For instance, the S&P 500 dived 18% over roughly three months in late 2018 as the Fed raised rates, despite the market’s hope at that time for rates to stay put.
\n
Peaking earnings growth is the other threat to stocks, Colas says. Several factors, however, have the potential to end the party.\nThe S&P 500 has had its second-best first half of a year since 1998, and it hasn’t shown many signs of letting up. The index ended June up 14.4% year to date, hitting several records during the month and posting another record close on Thursday.\nYet there are a couple key risks that could turn all of that around, according to Nick Colas, co-founder of DataTrek.\nFirst, there’s the possibility of an oil price shock, as the price of crude has shown little sign of cooling off. WTI crude oil is up 56% year to date and notched a new multi-year high Thursday—even amid growing expectations that OPEC will increase supply. If oil prices run hot enough, that could raise inflation to a level that—if sustained — could cause consumer demand to fall and that could surpass Federal Reserve expectations.\n“Suddenly higher oil prices” is atop the list of stock market concerns for Colas. “Rapidly rising oil prices will cause U.S. inflation to overshoot the Fed’s desired outcome and also stress the American consumer.”\nBoth those things could dent the stock market, which has long benefited from the Fed’s accommodative monetary policy, especially if the Fed signals that interest-rate increases could come sooner than expected.\nThat means the Fed will need to tread carefully when discussing rates to avoid spooking the market, Colas says.\n“Federal Reserve miscommunication about upcoming policy changes and/or raising interest rates too aggressively” is a second risk, Colas says. For instance, the S&P 500 dived 18% over roughly three months in late 2018 as the Fed raised rates, despite the market’s hope at that time for rates to stay put.\nPeaking earnings growth is the other threat to stocks, Colas says. Earnings growth for the average S&P 500 company is expected slow down to 11% in 2022 from 36% in 2021, according to FactSet, as the economy normalizes and the postpandemic recovery eases. But on average, S&P 500 stocks trade at 21.5 times expected earnings for the next 12 months, still above the index’s pre-pandemic multiple. At some point, stocks valuations will need to better reflect the expected decline in earnings growth, which would mean falling stock prices.\n“Valuations are high enough currently that peaking earnings could be a larger risk than before,” Colas writes.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":208,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":156519981,"gmtCreate":1625229700843,"gmtModify":1633942325647,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🥸","listText":"🥸","text":"🥸","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/156519981","repostId":"1142786875","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":352,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":158885537,"gmtCreate":1625144058129,"gmtModify":1633944328483,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🥸","listText":"🥸","text":"🥸","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/158885537","repostId":"1131385251","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":200,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":161045933,"gmtCreate":1623898110222,"gmtModify":1634026166681,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hello","listText":"Hello","text":"Hello","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/161045933","repostId":"2144713861","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":186,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":156519981,"gmtCreate":1625229700843,"gmtModify":1633942325647,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🥸","listText":"🥸","text":"🥸","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":8,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/156519981","repostId":"1142786875","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":352,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":158885537,"gmtCreate":1625144058129,"gmtModify":1633944328483,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🥸","listText":"🥸","text":"🥸","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/158885537","repostId":"1131385251","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":200,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":126041764,"gmtCreate":1624539679558,"gmtModify":1634004705265,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🤩","listText":"🤩","text":"🤩","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/126041764","repostId":"2145044815","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":142,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":164518374,"gmtCreate":1624229157098,"gmtModify":1634009384664,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"😳","listText":"😳","text":"😳","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/ However, these names are typically riskier and more volatile than the average stock.\nAdam Parker, former Morgan Stanley chief U.S. equity strategist and founder of Trivariate Research, said the time is right to buy growth shares, but investors should be cautious of a few.\n“We think that portfolio managers should be buying growth stocks again, focusing on positive free cash flow and margin expansion, not earnings-based valuation,” Parker said in a note released Wednesday.\nTrivariate Research used a number of criteria to identify risky stocks, including low or negative correlation to inflation, high correlation to the economic reopening and high levels of company insiders selling their shares. The research firm then identified the eight riskiest names based on those measures.\n“Our view is that these are among the riskiest stocks to own today, so investors who own these names should have disproportionate upside to their base cases to compensate them for these risks,” Parker said.\nTake a look at five of the riskiest technology stocks, according to Trivariate.\nRISKIEST TECH STOCKS, ACCORDING TO TRIVARIATE\n\n\n\nTICKER\nCOMPANY\nPRICE\n%CHANGE\n\n\n\n\nMCHP\nMicrochip Technology Inc\n145.62\n-3.0686\n\n\nTWLO\nTwilio Inc\n367.61\n1.84\n\n\nSQ\nSquare Inc\n237.05\n0.39\n\n\nNVDA\nNVIDIA Corp\n745.55\n-0.0992\n\n\nAAPL\nApple Inc\n130.46\n-1.0092\n\n\n\nApple is on Trivariate’s list of riskiest stocks. This would end the remaining limits that were set in the spring of 2020, as economic recovery and growing demand for oil have broughtcrude prices up to their highest level since late 2018.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":182,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":809349128,"gmtCreate":1627349749964,"gmtModify":1633765859497,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🧐","listText":"🧐","text":"🧐","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/809349128","repostId":"2154875967","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2154875967","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1627372266,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2154875967?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-27 15:51","market":"us","language":"en","title":"How the 10-year Treasury rate and S&P 500 performed when the Fed tapered in 2013","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2154875967","media":"MarketWatch","summary":"In the wake of the Great Recession, it took about five years for the U.S. central bank to start slow","content":"
In the wake of the Great Recession, it took about five years for the U.S. central bank to start slowing down its controversial large-scale bond-buying program, ultimately making 2013 the year of the \"taper tantrum .\"
\n
Federal Reserve officials have said they'd rather avoid a repeat of that episode, when it comes to eventually scaling back its $120 billion-a-month, pandemic-era asset-purchase program.
\n
And while it felt like the U.S. stock and bond markets both freaked out in 2013, a review of the S&P 500's performance in that tumultuous year shows it turned out pretty well for equity investors who stayed the course.
\n
Following a roughly 6% pullback post-Fed taper announcement, the S&P 500 finished the year higher by about 30%, according to the Wells Fargo Investment Institute.
\n
S&P 500 rose 30% in 2013. Cramer’s charitable investment portfolio exited its position inDisneyafter owning the media giant for 16 years.\n“I feel right now its a pandemic play, not a post-pandemic play because of how they positioned it. I know that they don’t agree with that, but I don’t need a company that’s a pandemic play because they aren’t working,” Cramer said Tuesday on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street.”\nThe “Mad Money” host also attributed the sale to how much the stock has risen in roughly a year. Disney’s stock has soared nearly 50% in the past 12 months, emerging a major beneficiary of the Covid-19 pandemic.\n“It’s gone up a lot,” added Cramer.\nOn March 13, 2020 – the day that then-President Donald Trump declared Covid-19 an emergency – Disney’s shares closed at $102.52. That week,Disney announced it would close its parksto stem transmission of the virus.\nCurrently, the stock trades around $172 per share. Shares lost 0.7% on Tuesday.\nDisney capitalized on the nationwide shutdowns during the pandemic by putting resources into its streaming service, Disney+, whichtopped 100 million subscribersjust 16 months after its launch.\n“Even though the company has made a good effort to try to make it so its not a pandemic story, I do feel that when I used to sit here, I used to see ESPN go down and down in terms of number of [subscribers], I think that Disney+ will, the rate of change that its going up will diminish as people want to go out,” said Cramer.\nHe said Disney’s Paris theme park opened last week but the company didn’t make a big enough deal about it.\nCramer added that he thinks Disney should focus more on theme parks, cruises and outdoor attractions instead of its push into its direct-to-consumer streaming service.\n“They’re sending what I regard as first-run movies to Disney +, versus AMC, and I think they should go to AMC. I think that they should say listen ‘we’re the open story and whoever wins the NBA, were going to take them all down, we want them to go to Disney’,” said Cramer.\n“I’ll go back in if they somehow make it clear that its an opening story because it should be the greatest opening story of all time,” he said.\nCramer’s charitable trust, Action Alerts Plus, has invested more than $2.5 million in 30 stocks. The diversified stock list, which Cramer manages with a team of market gurus, is made up of tech names like Apple, software firms like Salesforce, defensive plays such asBoeingand health care names likeAbbott LabsandAbbVie. Disney earned a spot for 16 years, until now.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":100,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":165296407,"gmtCreate":1624145052409,"gmtModify":1634010407317,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🤤","listText":"🤤","text":"🤤","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/165296407","repostId":"1156696708","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1156696708","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1624063306,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1156696708?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-19 08:41","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Dow falls more than 500 points to close out its worst week since October","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1156696708","media":"cnbc","summary":"Stocks fell on Friday, with theDow Jones Industrial Averageposting its worst weekly loss since Octob","content":"
\n
Stocks fell on Friday, with theDow Jones Industrial Averageposting its worst weekly loss since October, as traders worried the Federal Reserve could start raising rates sooner than expected.\nThe blue-...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n","source":"cnbc_highlight","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; TheS&P 500slid 1.3% to 4,166.45. Both the Dow and S&P 500 hit their session lows in the final minutes of trading and closed around those levels. TheNasdaq Compositeclosed 0.9% lower at 14,030.38. Economic comeback plays led the market losses.\nFor the week, the 30-stock Dow lost 3.5%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were down by 1.9% and 0.2%, respectively, week to date.\nSt. Louis Federal Reserve President Jim Bullardtold CNBC's \"Squawk Box\"on Friday it was natural for the Fed to tilt a little \"hawkish\" this week and that the first rate increase from the central bank would likely come in 2022. His comments came after the Fed on Wednesday added two rate hikes to its 2023 forecast and increased its inflation projection for the year, putting pressure on stock prices.\n\"The fear held by some investors is that if the Fed tightens policy sooner than expected to help cool inflationary pressures, this could weigh on future economic growth,\" Truist Advisory Services chief market strategist Keith Lerner said in a note. To be sure, he added it would be premature to give up on the so-called value trade right now.\nPockets of the market most sensitive to the economic rebound led the sell-off this week. The S&P 500 energy sector and industrials dropped 5.2% and 3.8%, respectively, for the week. Financials and materials meanwhile, lost more than 6% each. These groups had been market leaders this year on the back of the economic reopening.\nThe decline in stocks came as the Fed's actions caused a drastic flattening of the so-called Treasury yield curve. This means the yields of shorter-duration Treasurys — like the 2-year note — rose while longer-duration yields like the benchmark 10-year declined. The retreat in long-dated bond yields reflects less optimism toward economic growth, while the jump in short-end yields shows the expectations of the Fed raising rates.\nThis phenomenon hurt bank stocks particularly as their earnings could take a hit when the spread between short-term and long-term rates narrows. Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase shares on Friday lost more than 2% each. TheS&P 500slid 1.3% to 4,166.45. Both the Dow and S&P 500 hit their session lows in the final minutes of trading and closed around those levels. TheNasdaq Compositeclosed 0.9% lower at 14,030.38. Economic comeback plays led the market losses.\nFor the week, the 30-stock Dow lost 3.5%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq were down by 1.9% and 0.2%, respectively, week to date.\nSt. Louis Federal Reserve President Jim Bullardtold CNBC's \"Squawk Box\"on Friday it was natural for the Fed to tilt a little \"hawkish\" this week and that the first rate increase from the central bank would likely come in 2022. His comments came after the Fed on Wednesday added two rate hikes to its 2023 forecast and increased its inflation projection for the year, putting pressure on stock prices.\n\"The fear held by some investors is that if the Fed tightens policy sooner than expected to help cool inflationary pressures, this could weigh on future economic growth,\" Truist Advisory Services chief market strategist Keith Lerner said in a note. To be sure, he added it would be premature to give up on the so-called value trade right now.\nPockets of the market most sensitive to the economic rebound led the sell-off this week. The S&P 500 energy sector and industrials dropped 5.2% and 3.8%, respectively, for the week. Financials and materials meanwhile, lost more than 6% each. These groups had been market leaders this year on the back of the economic reopening.\nThe decline in stocks came as the Fed's actions caused a drastic flattening of the so-called Treasury yield curve. This means the yields of shorter-duration Treasurys — like the 2-year note — rose while longer-duration yields like the benchmark 10-year declined. The retreat in long-dated bond yields reflects less optimism toward economic growth, while the jump in short-end yields shows the expectations of the Fed raising rates.\nThis phenomenon hurt bank stocks particularly as their earnings could take a hit when the spread between short-term and long-term rates narrows. Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase shares on Friday lost more than 2% each. Citigroup fell by 1.8%, posting its 12th straight daily decline.\nFed Chairman Jerome Powell said Wednesday that officials have discussed tapering bond buying and would at some point begin slowing the asset purchases.\n\"This week's first whiff of an eventual change in Fed policy was a reminder that emergency monetary conditions and the free-money era will ultimately end,\" strategists at MRB Partners wrote in a note. \"We expect a series of incremental retreats from the Fed's benign inflation outlook in the coming months.\"\nCommodity prices were underpressure this weekas China attempted to cool rising prices and as the U.S. dollar strengthens. Copper, gold and platinum fell once again on Friday.\nFriday also coincided with the quarterly \"quadruple witching\" in which options and futures on indexes and equities expire. This event may have contributed to more volatile trading during the session.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":74,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":164518280,"gmtCreate":1624229175540,"gmtModify":1634009384294,"author":{"id":"3581709463214326","authorId":"3581709463214326","name":"Raxon","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/f81f6754bb141e86d284b707714fd071","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3581709463214326","authorIdStr":"3581709463214326"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"🤔","listText":"🤔","text":"🤔","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/164518280","repostId":"1161408410","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":203,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
