This year, that Santa Claus Rally window is set to start on Monday, Dec. 27 — or the latest a Santa Claus rally has started in 11 years, due to the timing of the holidays this year.
\n
According to data from LPL Financial, the Santa Claus Rally period encapsulates the seven days most likely to be higher in any given year. Since 1950, the Santa Claus Rally period has produced a positive return for the S&P 500 78.9% of the time, with an average return of 1.33%.
\n
“Why are these seven days so strong?” wrote Ryan Detrick, LPL Financial chief market strategist, in a note. “Whether optimism over a coming new year, holiday spending, traders on vacation, institutions squaring up their books — or the holiday spirit — the bottom line is that bulls tend to believe in Santa.”
\n
And if history is any indication, the absence of a Santa Claus Rally has also typically served as a harbinger of lower near-term returns.
\n
\"Going back to the mid-1990s, there have been only six times Santa failed to show in December. January was lower five of those six times, and the full year had a solid gain only once (in 2016, but a mini-bear market early in the year),\" Detrick added.
\n
“Considering the bear markets of 2000 and 2008 both took place after one of the rare instances that Santa failed to show makes believers out of us,\" he said. A bear market typically refers to when stocks drop at least 20% from recent record highs. \"Should this seasonally strong period miss the mark, it could be a warning sign.\"
\n
And this year, investors do have considerable additional concerns to mull heading into the new year. Though stocks closed out Thursday's session at fresh record highs before the long holiday weekend, December still marked a volatile month to start, with renewed concerns over the Omicron variant and the potential for tighter monetary policy from the Federal Reserve weighing on risk assets. Plus, prospects for more near-term fiscal support via the Biden administration's Build Back Better bill have dwindled, and inflation concerns spiked further. Last week, the Bureau of Economic Analysis reported core personal consumption expenditures (PCE) — the Fed's preferred inflation gauge — rose at a 4.7% year-over-year clip, or the fastest since 1983.
\n
\"If the U.S. was not battling the Omicron variant, U.S. stocks would be dancing higher as the Santa Claus Rally would have kept the climb going into uncharted territory,\" Edward Moya, chief market strategist at OANDA, wrote in a note last week. \"It is too early to say for sure if we will get a Santa Claus Rally, but given all the short-term risks of Fed tightening, Chinese weakness, fiscal support uncertainty and COVID, Wall Street is not complaining.\"
\n
A man in a Santa Claus costume gestures on the floor at the closing bell of the Dow Industrial Average at the New York Stock Exchange on December 5, 2019 in New York. This year, that Santa Claus Rally window is set to start on Monday, Dec. 27 — or the latest a Santa Claus rally has started in 11 years, due to the timing of the holidays this year.\nAccording to data from LPL Financial, the Santa Claus Rally period encapsulates the seven days most likely to be higher in any given year. Since 1950, the Santa Claus Rally period has produced a positive return for the S&P 500 78.9% of the time, with an average return of 1.33%.\n“Why are these seven days so strong?” wrote Ryan Detrick, LPL Financial chief market strategist, in a note. “Whether optimism over a coming new year, holiday spending, traders on vacation, institutions squaring up their books — or the holiday spirit — the bottom line is that bulls tend to believe in Santa.”\nAnd if history is any indication, the absence of a Santa Claus Rally has also typically served as a harbinger of lower near-term returns.\n\"Going back to the mid-1990s, there have been only six times Santa failed to show in December. Monitoring major discussion forums to identify potential highflyers is a strategy that can sometimes yield impressive results.
\n
With a focus on stocks’ popularity, elevated short interest, and imminent broad market catalysts, we’ve landed on two “meme” stocks to watch until at least New Year’s Eve: Vinco Venturers(BBIG) and Ocugen(OCGN).
\n
#1. Vinco Ventures — $BBIG
\n
Fairport, NY-based Vinco Ventures (BBIG) operates thirteen consumer and digital marketing brands, including The 911 Help Now, Global Clean Solution, and Ferguson Containers. The company’s business model is based on “aggressive acquisitions.” Shares are up nearly 25% since early December – most of this rise may stem from Vinco Ventures’ deal to sell warrants to an institutional investor.
\n
Figure 1: Vinco Ventures logo.
\n
Looking a bit further back, in September, Vinco Ventures announced a joint venture with Zash Global Media to acquire Lomotif, a TikTok-style social media platform that is very popular in India. Lomotif, through its subsidiary Emmersive Entertainment, also recently launched a platform for music streaming and NFT’s.
\n
After the acquisition announcement, Vinco Ventures stock’s popularity started skyrocketing on popular discussion boards, and the stock’s price grew a whopping 268% over ten trading days, from August 26 to September 9.
\n
Another catalyst for BBIG’s astronomical rise is that the company has been the target of many short sellers; roughly 20% of the company's float is currently shorted.
\n
A combination of these factors lead to BBIG becoming a meme stock, and it continues to trend in discussions on major Reddit forums (see below).
\n
Figure 2: Trending stocks on Reddit on December 22.
\n
#2. Ocugen — $OCGN
\n
Biopharmaceutical company Ocugen, which focuses mainly on gene therapies to cure diseases that cause blindness, has had its ticker trend multiple times since the beginning of October.
\n
Figure 3: Ocugen holds the rights to commercialize Covaxin COVID-19 vaccine in North America.
\n
The company has become a meme focus, even though it is currently 70% off its early-November peaks. The most likely catalyst behind the price surge is the anticipated World Health Organization’s approval of a COVID-19 vaccine called Covaxin.
\n
Ocugen is a co-development partner with Bharat Biotech on the vaccine, and it holds the rights to commercialize Covaxin in North America.Stage-3 results showed the drug to be efficient against the Delta variant, which will be helpful during the approval process.
\n
However, the vaccine’s efficacy against the Omicron variant is still a big unknown. Monitoring major discussion forums to identify potential highflyers is a strategy that can sometimes yield impressive results.\nWith a focus on stocks’ popularity, elevated short interest, and imminent broad market catalysts, we’ve landed on two “meme” stocks to watch until at least New Year’s Eve: Vinco Venturers(BBIG) and Ocugen(OCGN).\n#1. Vinco Ventures — $BBIG\nFairport, NY-based Vinco Ventures (BBIG) operates thirteen consumer and digital marketing brands, including The 911 Help Now, Global Clean Solution, and Ferguson Containers. The company’s business model is based on “aggressive acquisitions.” Shares are up nearly 25% since early December – most of this rise may stem from Vinco Ventures’ deal to sell warrants to an institutional investor.\nFigure 1: Vinco Ventures logo.\nLooking a bit further back, in September, Vinco Ventures announced a joint venture with Zash Global Media to acquire Lomotif, a TikTok-style social media platform that is very popular in India. Lomotif, through its subsidiary Emmersive Entertainment, also recently launched a platform for music streaming and NFT’s.\nAfter the acquisition announcement, Vinco Ventures stock’s popularity started skyrocketing on popular discussion boards, and the stock’s price grew a whopping 268% over ten trading days, from August 26 to September 9.\nAnother catalyst for BBIG’s astronomical rise is that the company has been the target of many short sellers; roughly 20% of the company's float is currently shorted.\nA combination of these factors lead to BBIG becoming a meme stock, and it continues to trend in discussions on major Reddit forums (see below).\nFigure 2: Trending stocks on Reddit on December 22.\n#2. Ocugen — $OCGN\nBiopharmaceutical company Ocugen, which focuses mainly on gene therapies to cure diseases that cause blindness, has had its ticker trend multiple times since the beginning of October.\nFigure 3: Ocugen holds the rights to commercialize Covaxin COVID-19 vaccine in North America.\nThe company has become a meme focus, even though it is currently 70% off its early-November peaks. The most likely catalyst behind the price surge is the anticipated World Health Organization’s approval of a COVID-19 vaccine called Covaxin.\nOcugen is a co-development partner with Bharat Biotech on the vaccine, and it holds the rights to commercialize Covaxin in North America.Stage-3 results showed the drug to be efficient against the Delta variant, which will be helpful during the approval process.\nHowever, the vaccine’s efficacy against the Omicron variant is still a big unknown. Ocugen plans on releasing its own study on the vaccine’s efficiency against the new variant as soon as the work has been completed.\nMeanwhile, the stock remains a bear target. OCGN has 56 million shares shorted, representing a whopping 25% of the float. While heavy shorting signals skepticism and caution, it can also set up shares for a short squeeze, which could be triggered by massive buy volumes.\nEventual vaccine approval and a proven efficiency against the Omicron variant could be the catalyst that sparks just that type of bullish short-term activity.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1710,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":698041016,"gmtCreate":1640268785185,"gmtModify":1640268788048,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Stay invested","listText":"Stay invested","text":"Stay invested","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/698041016","repostId":"1190771295","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":483,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":691842225,"gmtCreate":1640174530983,"gmtModify":1640174536472,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Stay interested","listText":"Stay interested","text":"Stay interested","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/691842225","repostId":"1138098397","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1138098397","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1640173783,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1138098397?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-12-22 19:49","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Global SPAC shares jumped 62.39% in premarket trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1138098397","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"Global SPAC shares jumped 62.39% in premarket trading.Gorilla Technology Group, a global leader in edge artificial intelligence for security and other applications, and Global SPAC Partners Co., a blank check company, entered a business combination agreement. The combined company will be called Gorilla Technology Group Inc. and is expected to be listed on Nasdaq under the symbol “GRRR”.The deal values Gorilla at a pro forma enterprise value of about $708 million. Doing so has ballooned the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet to nearly $9 trillion.
\n
Fed officials, acknowledging the rising risks posed by inflationary pressures, are now starting to think about whether or not they can move to shrink the central bank’s holdings next year.
\n
“I have no idea what a normal balance sheet looks like anymore,” said Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller on Dec. 17.
\n
Since the depths of the pandemic, the Fed has been buying U.S. Treasuries and agency mortgage-backed securities in the open market. Those purchases, in a process often referred to as “quantitative easing,” serve as a signal to markets that the Fed is serious about its intention to keep financing conditions loose.
\n
In November, the Fed kicked off the process in slowing the pace of those purchases, which it had been running at a clip of about $120 billion per month. After a print on inflation showing the fastest pace of price increases since 1982, the Fed moved on Dec. 15 to more quickly draw down its purchases.
\n
When the Fed brings the quantitative easing program to a full stop around March, policymakers will then turn their eyes to raising interest rates (from the current setting of near zero) — and perhaps an unwinding of its balance sheet. The Fed signaled the likelihood of three interest rate hikes next year, a more aggressive path than Fed watchers had originally expected.
\n
“In light of this slightly earlier timing of hikes and Powell’s comment that differences with the economic situation last cycle could influence thinking about balance sheet policy,” wrote Goldman Sachs Economics in a note.
\n
Wall Street analysts are pulling forward their expectations for when the Fed would start “quantitative tightening,” the process of shrinking the balance sheet by allowing maturing securities to “roll off” (as opposed to reinvest in new securities).
\n
Deutsche Bank, which originally expected the Fed to start the balance sheet unwind in the third quarter of 2023, now expects that process to begin in the “back half of next year.” Goldman Sachs had originally forecast a start date in the first half of 2023, but now expects quantitative tightening to begin in the fourth quarter of next year.
\n
What has the Fed said?
\n
Fed Chairman Jerome Powell punted on the question of balance sheet strategies when he was asked about it following the Fed’s most recent policy-setting meeting.
\n
“Didn’t make any decisions today,” said Powell on Dec. 15, adding that the Fed will deliberate on the timing of any balance sheet runoff in coming meetings.
\n
But Powell’s colleagues are beginning to speak openly about exactly how they’d like to see the balance sheet handled.
\n
“I think we could start reducing the balance sheet not too long after liftoff,” Waller said at an event on Dec. 17, referring to the “lifting off” from near-zero interest rates. Markets are bracing for the possibility of that first interest rate hike to happen as early as March.
\n
Waller added that he would like to see the Fed balance sheet, which is about 35% of total U.S. GDP, reduced to “something like 20%,” which would be roughly $6 trillion.
\n
The Fed has only attempted to reduce the size of its balance sheet once in the modern era of quantitative easing. After almost three years of holding the balance sheet at roughly $4.5 trillion, the Fed moved in late 2017 to begin unwinding its asset holdings.
\n
That process abruptly ended in 2019, in the face of economic downside risks associated with the U.S.-China trade war. The COVID-19 pandemic only a few months later would push the Fed back into again expanding its balance sheet.
\n
The Fed appears to be in the early stages of thinking about how it might be able to pull it off next year, suggesting it may not wait as long as it did last time.
\n
But the Fed is also aware that it does not want to surprise markets.
\n
“In dealing with balance sheet issues, we've learned that it's best to take a careful sort of methodical approach to make adjustments. Markets can be sensitive to it,” Powell said on Dec. 15.
","source":"lsy1612507957220","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
What happens next with the Fed's $9 trillion balance sheet?
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhat happens next with the Fed's $9 trillion balance sheet?\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2021-12-21 20:24 GMT+8 finance.yahoo\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
Since the pandemic began, the nation’s central bank has aggressively printed trillions of dollars to keep the U.S. economy afloat. The Fed signaled the likelihood of three interest rate hikes next year, a more aggressive path than Fed watchers had originally expected.\n“In light of this slightly earlier timing of hikes and Powell’s comment that differences with the economic situation last cycle could influence thinking about balance sheet policy,” wrote Goldman Sachs Economics in a note.\nWall Street analysts are pulling forward their expectations for when the Fed would start “quantitative tightening,” the process of shrinking the balance sheet by allowing maturing securities to “roll off” (as opposed to reinvest in new securities).\nDeutsche Bank, which originally expected the Fed to start the balance sheet unwind in the third quarter of 2023, now expects that process to begin in the “back half of next year.” Goldman Sachs had originally forecast a start date in the first half of 2023, but now expects quantitative tightening to begin in the fourth quarter of next year.\nWhat has the Fed said?\nFed Chairman Jerome Powell punted on the question of balance sheet strategies when he was asked about it following the Fed’s most recent policy-setting meeting.\n“Didn’t make any decisions today,” said Powell on Dec. 15, adding that the Fed will deliberate on the timing of any balance sheet runoff in coming meetings.\nBut Powell’s colleagues are beginning to speak openly about exactly how they’d like to see the balance sheet handled.\n“I think we could start reducing the balance sheet not too long after liftoff,” Waller said at an event on Dec. 17, referring to the “lifting off” from near-zero interest rates. Markets are bracing for the possibility of that first interest rate hike to happen as early as March.\nWaller added that he would like to see the Fed balance sheet, which is about 35% of total U.S. GDP, reduced to “something like 20%,” which would be roughly $6 trillion.\nThe Fed has only attempted to reduce the size of its balance sheet once in the modern era of quantitative easing. After almost three years of holding the balance sheet at roughly $4.5 trillion, the Fed moved in late 2017 to begin unwinding its asset holdings.\nThat process abruptly ended in 2019, in the face of economic downside risks associated with the U.S.-China trade war. The COVID-19 pandemic only a few months later would push the Fed back into again expanding its balance sheet.\nThe Fed appears to be in the early stages of thinking about how it might be able to pull it off next year, suggesting it may not wait as long as it did last time.\nBut the Fed is also aware that it does not want to surprise markets.\n“In dealing with balance sheet issues, we've learned that it's best to take a careful sort of methodical approach to make adjustments. Markets can be sensitive to it,” Powell said on Dec. 15.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":552,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":693874393,"gmtCreate":1640009251092,"gmtModify":1640009252454,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Stay The S&P 500 declined 0.4% to 4,192.85 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 1% to 13,614.51.The benchmark S&P 500 sits about 1% from its all-time high reached earlier last month, but it has been stuck around these levels for about the last two weeks. The S&P 500 is up more than 11% this year so far.Merck and Dow Inc. were the two best performers in the 30-stock benchmark, both rising more than 2%. Consumer staples and utilities were the biggest gainers among 11 S&P 500 sectors, while consumer discretionary and tech weighed on the broader market, falling 1.2% and 0.9%, respectively.Shares of General Motors climbed nearly 6.4% after the company said it expects its results for the first half of 2021 to be “significantly better” than its prior guidance. On the data front, private job growth for May accelerated at its fastest pace in nearly a year as companies hired nearly a million workers, according to a report Thursday from payroll processing firm ADP.Total hires came to 978,000 for the month, a big jump from April’s 654,000 and the largest gain since June 2020. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been looking for 680,000.Meanwhile,first-time claims for unemployment benefitsfor the week ended May 29 totaled 385,000, versus a Dow Jones estimate of 393,000. It also marked the first time that jobless claims fell below 400,000 since the early days of the pandemic.“With ADP knocking it out of the park, and jobless claims breaking that 400k barrier—a pandemic low—all eyes will be on the larger jobs picture tomorrow,” said Mike Loewengart, a managing director at E-Trade. “With seemingly all systems go on the jobs front, the economy is flashing some very real signs that this isn’t just a comeback—expansion mode could be on the horizon.”The market may be on hold before the release of the jobs report Friday, which is likely to show an additional 671,000 nonfarm payrolls in May, according to economists polled by Dow Jones. The economy added 266,000 jobs in April.Investors continued to monitor the wild action in meme stocks, particularly theater chain AMC Entertainment. The stock tumbled as much as 30% after practically doubling in the prior session, but shares cut losses after movie theater chain said it completed a stock offering launched just hours ago, raising $587 million. The stock ended the day about 18% lower.Other meme stocks also came under pressure Thursday. Bed Bath & Beyond fell more than 27%. The SoFi Social 50 ETF (SFYF), which tracks the top 50 most widely held U.S. listed stocks on SoFi’s retail brokerage platform, tumbled more than 6%.Reminiscent of what occurred earlier this year, retail traders rallying together on Reddit triggered a short squeeze in AMC earlier this week. On Wednesday, short-sellers betting against the stock lost $2.8 billion as the shares surged, according to S3 Partners. That brings their year-to-date losses to more than $5 billion, according to S3. Short sellers are forced to buy back the stock to cut their losses when it keeps rallying like this. The meme stock bubble in GameStop earlier this year weighed on the market a bit as investors worried it meant too much speculative activity was in the stock market. As losses in hedge funds betting against the stock mounted, worries increased about a pullback in risk-taking across Wall Street that could hit the overall market. AMC’s latest surge did not appear to be causing similar concerns so far. Here are company's financial statementsSlack tops Q1 expectations, ends quarter with 169,000 total paid customersLululemon first-quarter sales rise 88%, topping estimates, as store traffic reboundsCrowdStrike stock rises as earnings, outlook top Street viewDocuSign stock pops on earnings, outlook beat","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":228,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":126422935,"gmtCreate":1624582319527,"gmtModify":1633951001429,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Please stay invested, buy VXF","listText":"Please stay invested, buy VXF","text":"Please stay invested, buy VXF","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/126422935","repostId":"2146023477","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":164,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":166184809,"gmtCreate":1623996884601,"gmtModify":1634024366563,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment","listText":"Like and comment","text":"Like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":9,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/166184809","repostId":"2144742925","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":232,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":163525337,"gmtCreate":1623889534629,"gmtModify":1634026442814,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"I have 5000 coins, please help to like and comment","listText":"I have 5000 coins, please help to like and comment","text":"I have 5000 coins, please help to like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/163525337","repostId":"2144713861","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":286,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":188427110,"gmtCreate":1623459834630,"gmtModify":1634032958640,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like and comment","listText":"Like and comment","text":"Like and comment","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/188427110","repostId":"2142204074","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":95,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":181073579,"gmtCreate":1623369058891,"gmtModify":1634034189429,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"ATH, UP UP UP","listText":"ATH, UP UP UP","text":"ATH, UP UP UP","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":5,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/181073579","repostId":"1184070773","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1184070773","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623367038,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1184070773?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-11 07:17","market":"us","language":"en","title":"S&P 500 climbs to a new record close, shrugging off inflation fears","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1184070773","media":"cnbc","summary":"The S&P 500 rose to an all-time high on Thursday as investors shrugged off a key inflation report that showed a bigger-than-expected increase in price pressures. The broad equity benchmark climbed nearly 0.5% to a record closing high of 4,239.18. The S&P 500 also hit an intraday record of 4,249.74, overtaking its May 7 high after the market traded sideways for a month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 19.10 points, or less than 0.1%, to 34,466.24, while the Nasdaq Composite gained about 0.8% to 14,020.33.\nConsumer prices for May accelerated at their fastest pace since the summer of 2008 amid the economic recovery from the pandemic-triggered recession, the Labor Department reported Thursday.\nThe consumer price index, which represents a basket including food, energy, groceries and prices across a spectrum of goods, rose 5% from a year ago. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had been expecting a gain of 4.7%.\n\"I think there were a lot of people who held back, who wanted to see the hotter inflation number,\" CNBC's Jim Cramer said on \"Squawk on the Street.\" \"Now they've said, 'OK, now that's over with. Let's do some buying.' Because they've been on the sideline and they want to get in. I don't think that's actually usual these days because there's still so much buying power out there. Used car and truck prices jumped more than 7%, accounting for one-third of the total increase for the month, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The jump in used car prices likely reflects a temporary phenomenon related to the pandemic and auto supply.\nA separate report released Thursday showed that jobless claims for the week ended June 5 came in at 376,000, versus a Dow Jones estimate of 370,000. The total still marked the lowest of the pandemic era.\nUPS shares rose about 1% afteran upgrade from JPMorgan. The prices paid index, driven higher by the current demand/supply imbalance, soared to its highest level since 1979, according to ISM.\n“The employment and manufacturing data released today supported the idea of continued growth but at a decelerated rate,” Carter added.\nFriday’s hotly anticipated jobs report is expected to show payrolls growing by 700,000 and unemployment inching down to 5.7%. A robust upside surprise could lead the U.S. Federal Reserve to adjust its timetable for tapering its securities purchases and raising key interest rates.\n“Too-strong economic data could perversely be a bad thing for markets if it caused the Fed to raise rates faster than expected,” Carter said. “Weak employment data may actually be welcomed.”\nThe Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 131.02 points, or 0.38%, to 34,633.53, the S&P 500 gained 22.44 points, or 0.52%, to 4,319.94 and the Nasdaq Composite added 18.42 points, or 0.13%, to 14,522.38.\nOf the 11 major sectors in the S&P 500, consumer staples was the sole loser, shedding 0.3%.\nWalgreens Boots Alliance Inc dropped 7.4% after it said it expects to administer fewer COVID-19 vaccine shots in the fourth quarter.\nDidi Global Inc jumped 16.0%, on its second day of trading as a U.S.-listed company.\nMicron Technology Inc slid by 5.7% following a report that Texas Instruments would buy Micron’s Lehi, Utah, factory for $900 million.\nAdvancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 1.78-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.32-to-1 ratio favored advancers.\nThe S&P 500 posted 36 new 52-week highs and no new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 78 new highs and 30 new lows.\nVolume on U.S. exchanges was 9.53 billion shares, compared with the 10.9 billion average over the last 20 trading days.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":179,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":132952126,"gmtCreate":1622068816265,"gmtModify":1634184269349,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Response to this help!","listText":"Response to this help!","text":"Response to this help!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":4,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/132952126","repostId":"2138143109","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":217,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":696517708,"gmtCreate":1640734953566,"gmtModify":1640734996189,"author":{"id":"3582839637303229","authorId":"3582839637303229","name":"vxf","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/b1ee9a28e0a19bf5b87d52e90dc87788","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582839637303229","authorIdStr":"3582839637303229"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Hi","listText":"Hi","text":"Hi","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/696517708","repostId":"2195431071","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2195431071","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1640734637,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2195431071?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-12-29 07:37","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Ford’s Market Value Closes Above GM’s for First Time in Five Years","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2195431071","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"(Bloomberg) -- Ford Motor Co.’s surging stock has given it a market value greater than rival General","content":"
(Bloomberg) -- Ford Motor Co.’s surging stock has given it a market value greater than rival General Motors Co. for the first time in more than five years.
\n
Ford had a market value of $83 billion at the close in New York, just barely ahead of GM’s $82.9 billion.
