The Apple Maven reviews the most important ones.
\n
Not even 72 hours after logging its worst day of returns since early May 2021, Apple stock faces a crucial week ahead in the market. Today, the Apple Maven reviews the key developments of the next five trading days that could move AAPL shares, either higher or lower.
\n
Figure 1: Apple store in New York, NY.
\n
iPhone 13 to see the light of day
\n
Apple’s big product launch event of the year will take place on September 14. The Cupertino company is widely expected to unveil its new smartphone model, the iPhone 13, while a new Watch and set of AirPods will probably be featured as well.
\n
It is unclear whether the product announcements will have much of an impact on the stock price. As usual, two factors will likely play an important role in swaying investor sentiment: product features and timing on the availability of the products.
\n
Currently, the expectations are for minimal feature upgrades and little (if any) delay. Any deviation from the status quo could be a stock price mover. Morgan Stanley’s Katy Huberty seems to believe that the setup is favorable for AAPL shares ahead of the product launches.
\n
Will App Store concerns linger?
\n
Another item to keep an eye on this week will be the App Store. The Apple Maven has recently argued that scrutiny over the Cupertino company’s app platform could be a key risk that Apple stock investors should pay attention to, despite some Wall Street analysts having dismissed it as largely immaterial.
\n
On Friday, the market seems to have recognized the potential downside. AAPL shed $82 billion in market cap on the back of the Apple vs. Epic court ruling. The iPhone maker must now allow other forms of in-app purchases, which could prevent Apple from collecting its commissions of up to 30%.
\n
Will Apple stock recover from the recent decline, putting to rest fears over a more pronounced pullback? Or will the recent App Store development lead to a more damaging selloff?
\n
More economic data
\n
At a macro level, other factors could impact Apple stock during this important week. The Apple Maven reviews the most important ones.\nNot even 72 hours after logging its worst day of returns since early May 2021, Apple stock faces a crucial week ahead in the market. Today, the Apple Maven reviews the key developments of the next five trading days that could move AAPL shares, either higher or lower.\nFigure 1: Apple store in New York, NY.\niPhone 13 to see the light of day\nApple’s big product launch event of the year will take place on September 14. The Cupertino company is widely expected to unveil its new smartphone model, the iPhone 13, while a new Watch and set of AirPods will probably be featured as well.\nIt is unclear whether the product announcements will have much of an impact on the stock price. As usual, two factors will likely play an important role in swaying investor sentiment: product features and timing on the availability of the products.\nCurrently, the expectations are for minimal feature upgrades and little (if any) delay. Any deviation from the status quo could be a stock price mover. Morgan Stanley’s Katy Huberty seems to believe that the setup is favorable for AAPL shares ahead of the product launches.\nWill App Store concerns linger?\nAnother item to keep an eye on this week will be the App Store. The Apple Maven has recently argued that scrutiny over the Cupertino company’s app platform could be a key risk that Apple stock investors should pay attention to, despite some Wall Street analysts having dismissed it as largely immaterial.\nOn Friday, the market seems to have recognized the potential downside. AAPL shed $82 billion in market cap on the back of the Apple vs. Epic court ruling. The iPhone maker must now allow other forms of in-app purchases, which could prevent Apple from collecting its commissions of up to 30%.\nWill Apple stock recover from the recent decline, putting to rest fears over a more pronounced pullback? Or will the recent App Store development lead to a more damaging selloff?\nMore economic data\nAt a macro level, other factors could impact Apple stock during this important week. On Tuesday, the Labor Department will release its report on consumer inflation. This has been one of the hottest topics of conversation so far in 2021 – and growth stocks have been particularly sensitive to data on price movements.\nThen, on Thursday, the U.S. Commerce Department will share numbers on retail sales. This is usually an important gauge on consumer activity and could reflect demand for Apple’s consumer products and services.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":469,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":881495673,"gmtCreate":1631374230792,"gmtModify":1631890972413,"author":{"id":"3582851950366557","authorId":"3582851950366557","name":"5392efd1","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582851950366557","authorIdStr":"3582851950366557"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls","listText":"Like pls","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/881495673","repostId":"2166375184","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":462,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":883965796,"gmtCreate":1631197030815,"gmtModify":1631890972424,"author":{"id":"3582851950366557","authorId":"3582851950366557","name":"5392efd1","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582851950366557","authorIdStr":"3582851950366557"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls ","listText":"Like pls ","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/883965796","repostId":"1137854438","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":576,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":880880468,"gmtCreate":1631031180854,"gmtModify":1631890972436,"author":{"id":"3582851950366557","authorId":"3582851950366557","name":"5392efd1","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582851950366557","authorIdStr":"3582851950366557"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls ","listText":"Like pls ","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/880880468","repostId":"1147326043","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1147326043","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1631021905,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1147326043?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-07 21:38","market":"us","language":"en","title":"SoftBank Soars After Striking Deal With Deutsche Telekom For Badly Needed Cash, Shares In Exchange For T-Mobile Stake","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1147326043","media":"zerohedge","summary":"SoftBank has just been handed a new lifeline by German telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom, which will f","content":"
SoftBank has just been handed a new lifeline by German telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom, which will fork over billions in cash and a 4.5% stake in DT,a package valued at roughly $7 billion.
\n
In a separate deal announced Monday, DT sold its Dutch business (named T-Mobile Netherlands) to a consortium of private equity buyers - the latest in a string of major deals in Europe - for $6.1 billion, giving the heavily leveraged German telecoms giant some badly needed cash.
\n
For SoftBank, the DT has always been a potential life raft, since CEO Tim Hoettges has made his desire to acquire full control of T-Mobile US - a $170 billion business that would give the German firm control of one of the major US networks - well known. Figuring out if the stock will go up or down, however, shouldn’t be all that difficult.
\n
The EV pioneer will report after the close of trading on Monday,July 26. Wall Street is looking for Tesla to report about 94 cents in per-share earnings from $11.5 billion in sales, according to FactSet. Beating analyst estimates is important, almost required, for any stock to remain stable in post-earnings trading. That’s true for Tesla as well.
\n
There are plenty of factors that will contribute to bottom-line earnings—the global semiconductor shortage, vehicle pricing, vehicle gross profit margins, and the level of profitability in Tesla’s battery storage business. In the end, however, investors will want to see a record in operating profits—no matter how it happens. That’s what could break shares out of their recent range.
\n

\n
Tesla reported more than $800 million in operating profits in the 2020 third quarter, and the stock more than doubled to around $860 in the three-month span that followed. But since operating profit growth largely paused in the subsequent quarters, shares have traded down from roughly $860 to around $640 recently. Profit stagnation has meant stock stagnation, too.
\n
The good news for Tesla bulls is Wall Street is projecting a fresh record: Operating profit is expected to be $835 million for the second quarter, driven by strong deliveries. The 2021 second quarter marked the first time Tesla delivered more than 200,000 vehicles in a single quarter.
\n
After earnings are digested, there should be endless arguments among bulls and bears about the quality of earnings. For instance, one way Tesla generates sales is by selling regulatory credits—which it earns by producing more than its fair share of electric vehicles. The company generated $518 million in first-quarter credit sales, which helped Tesla beat earnings estimates. There is always debate about what is the “normal” amount of credit sales and when will those sales dry up. Eventually, both the bulls and bears expect other auto makers to sell their own EVs, cutting off that source of revenue for Tesla.
\n
There is also the issue of Bitcoin. Tesla recognized a small gain on its Bitcoin holdings in the first quarter, but the cryptocurrency’s prices have fallen by roughly half since their April peak. That means there is a chance of a small loss. How investors react is anyone’s guess, but don’t expect Tesla to sell out of its Bitcoin position. Musk continues to indicate his company will transact in the cryptocurrency when Bitcoin mining uses more sustainable power.
\n
Investors will also want to know when Tesla’s new Germany plant and Austin, Texas facility will start delivering cars. The Austin plant will build Tesla’s Cybertruck. There will also likely be questions about advances in Tesla’s driver-assistance functions—the company recently started selling its driver-assistance software as a subscription—and how much money the company could make from its charging network. Musk tweeted this week Tesla would open its charging network to other EVs down the road.
\n
All those topics and more should come up on the earningsconference callscheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Year to date, Tesla stock is down roughly 9%, trailing behind comparable 17% and 15% respective gains of theS&P 500andDow Jones Industrial Average.Still, Tesla shares have had a strong run, up about 112% over the past 12 months.
","source":"lsy1601382232898","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla Earnings Are Coming. The Austin plant will build Tesla’s Cybertruck. There will also likely be questions about advances in Tesla’s driver-assistance functions—the company recently started selling its driver-assistance software as a subscription—and how much money the company could make from its charging network. Musk tweeted this week Tesla would open its charging network to other EVs down the road.\nAll those topics and more should come up on the earningsconference callscheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday. Year to date, Tesla stock is down roughly 9%, trailing behind comparable 17% and 15% respective gains of theS&P 500andDow Jones Industrial Average.Still, Tesla shares have had a strong run, up about fell on Tuesday as Wall Street kicked off the holiday-shortened week with concern that maybe the best of the economic recovery from the pandemic is behind us.\nThe Dow Jones Industrial Average fell about 400 points, dragged down by losses in JPMorgan, Chevron and Goldman Sachs. The S&P 500 dipped 0.7% and the Nasdaq Composite traded around the flatline after both averages hit records at the open. U.S. markets were closed for the July 4 Independence Day holiday on Monday. The S&P 500 is coming off a seven-day winning streak, its longest since August.\nInvestors are juggling several signs that the rapid economic growth from the depths of the pandemic could be peaking. The ISM Services index, a major gauge of the services sector, slowed to 60.1 in June from a record in the prior month, data released Tuesday showed. Economists polled by Dow Jones expected a print of 63.5. This follows Friday's jobs report, which showed the unemployment raterose back up to 5.9%against the 5.6% expectation.\nBond yields also fell on Monday, with the 10-year Treasury yield below 1.4%, further evidence that investors are doubting the strength of the U.S. economy.\nWhile shares linked to the economy including Caterpillar and JPMorgan fell, shares of tech companies gained. Amazon, Apple and Microsoft were higher.\nAmazon rose nearly 3% to lead technology shares as Andy Jassy officially took over as CEO on Monday. Jeff Bezos is now the executive chairman of the board.\nStill, many on Wall Street expect smaller and choppier gains from the rest of the year after a strong performance in the first half amid a historic economic reopening. The S&P 500 is up nearly 16% year to date.\n\"The US economy is booming, but this is now a known known and asset markets reflect it. What isn't so clear anymore is at what price this growth will accrue,\" Michael Wilson, chief U.S. equity strategist at Morgan Stanley, said in a note. \"Higher costs mean lower profits, another reason why the overall equity market has been narrowing... equity markets are likely to take a break this summer as things heat up.\"\nWall Street's consensus year-end target for the S&P 500 stands at 4,276, representing a near 2% loss from the 500-stock average's current level, according to the CNBC Market Strategist Survey that rounds up 16 top strategists' forecasts.\n\"Everything is perfect and that worries me,\" said Sarat Sethi, portfolio manager at DCLA, said on CNBC's \"Squawk Box\" on Tuesday. \"Since October, we've had a 5% correction, that's it. I do think we're in a little bit of a euphoria short-term. We do need to be careful and I do think you want to be in secular growth companies, no just chasing the market here because I do think the market's going to be very picky as to what sectors are going to do well.\"\nU.S. shares of Chinese ride-hailing giantDidi plunged as much as 25%after China said new users could not download the app until it conducts a cybersecurity review. The announcement took markets by surprise given that Didi just made its U.S. debut on the NYSE last week.\nWest Texas Intermediate crude rose to asix-year highas a key meeting between oil producer group OPEC and its partners on crude output policyhas been called off. The postponement came as the United Arab Emirates rejected a proposal to extend oil production increase for a second day. At one point on Tuesday, WTI crude hit as high as $76.98, which was the highest price since November 2014, after pulling back before the opening bell.\nInvestors await the release of June Federal Open Market Committee meeting minutes due Wednesday for clues about the central bank's behind-the-scenes discussions on winding down its quantitative easing program.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":423,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":817612564,"gmtCreate":1630940015558,"gmtModify":1631890972451,"author":{"id":"3582851950366557","authorId":"3582851950366557","name":"5392efd1","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582851950366557","authorIdStr":"3582851950366557"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls ","listText":"Like pls ","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/817612564","repostId":"1143325200","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1143325200","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1630882610,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1143325200?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-09-06 06:56","market":"us","language":"en","title":"GameStop, Moderna, Home Depot, Kroger, and Other Stocks for Investors to Watch This Week","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1143325200","media":"Barrons","summary":"U.S. stock and bond markets are closed on Monday for Labor Day. PLTR stock registered a remarkable 11.5% single-day gain after reporting earnings. The results unambiguously beat analysts’ estimates on revenue and adjusted earnings per share (EPS) by a fair margin. Palantir offers a mix of growth and safety, which is rare for a lot of tech stocks.
\n
Source: rblfmr / Shutterstock.com
\n
PLTR stock has grown modestly since the beginning of the year. Moreover, it trades virtually in line with mean estimates. The bears have talked about its lofty price metrics. For instance, it trades at over 28 times forward sales. Though it may seem that stock has a bloated valuation, when you factor in Palantir’s growth rates, its price metrics are in line with mature tech stocks. The management stated that the company is on track to grow its revenues by at least 30% annually through 2025.
\n
Blow-Out Earnings
\n
Palantir delivered strong second-quarter growth metrics. Its revenues rose 49% year-over-year to $375.6 million, driven mainly by a 90% increase in U.S. commercial revenue. Moreover, its adjusted earnings of 4 cents per share quadrupled and beat consensus estimates by one cent.
\n
It closed62 deals of $1 million or more in the quarter and 21 deals worth $10 million or more. The encouraging element in the quarter was the company’s ability to expand its commercial clientele. Critics have panned it for its over-reliance on government contracts. Though the contracts with the U.S. government are dependable, they offer limited growth potential. Hence, it has had to tap into the private sector to expand its total addressable market.
\n
Hence private sector clients are the company’s most promising source of new revenue. Accordingly, Palantir has launched the Foundry for Builders initiative to attract more startups to sign-up to its foundry platform. It’s the company’s biggest push to boost its private sector positioning, and its second-quarter earnings suggest it could work.
\n
Furthermore, cash flows from operations have totaled $23 million, with an adjusted free cash flow of $50 million. Moreover, it has raised its full-year free cash flow outlook to above $300 million. Revenues are likely to come in at $385 million in the third quarter, above the $380.1 million consensus.
\n
Foundry For Builders
\n
Palantir’s breakthrough in its commercial business has been the story of the second quarter. The 90% growth is staggering, considering how the sector had grown by only 19% in the prior quarter. Naturally, it has a lot to do with Palantir’s Foundry For Builders initiative. Foundry offers a comprehensive suite of big data services to its clients include operational decision-making insights, data integration, AI/ML models, and others.
\n
Previously the platform was offered to its public sector clients, but that changed in the first quarter. Initially, it plans to target startups linked with its existing client base and then move on to the mass market with the program. Initial sales from these companies are likely to be low, but there’s plenty of room for growth and expansion. PLTR stock registered a remarkable 11.5% single-day gain after reporting earnings. The results unambiguously beat analysts’ estimates on revenue and adjusted earnings per share (EPS) by a fair margin. Palantir offers a mix of growth and safety, which is rare for a lot of tech stocks.\nSource: rblfmr / Shutterstock.com\nPLTR stock has grown modestly since the beginning of the year. The management stated that the company is on track to grow its revenues by at least 30% annually through 2025.\nBlow-Out Earnings\nPalantir delivered strong second-quarter growth metrics. Its revenues rose 49% year-over-year to $375.6 million, driven mainly by a 90% increase in U.S. commercial revenue. Moreover, its adjusted earnings of 4 cents per share quadrupled and beat consensus estimates by one cent.\nIt closed62 deals of $1 million or more in the quarter and 21 deals worth $10 million or more. The encouraging element in the quarter was the company’s ability to expand its commercial clientele. Critics have panned it for its over-reliance on government contracts. Though the contracts with the U.S. government are dependable, they offer limited growth potential. Hence, it has had to tap into the private sector to expand its total addressable market.\nHence private sector clients are the company’s most promising source of new revenue. Accordingly, Palantir has launched the Foundry for Builders initiative to attract more startups to sign-up to its foundry platform. It’s the company’s biggest push to boost its private sector positioning, and its second-quarter earnings suggest it could work.\nFurthermore, cash flows from operations have totaled $23 million, with an adjusted free cash flow of $50 million. Moreover, it has raised its full-year free cash flow outlook to above $300 million. Revenues are likely to come in at $385 million in the third quarter, above the $380.1 million consensus.\nFoundry For Builders\nPalantir’s breakthrough in its commercial business has been the story of the second quarter. The 90% growth is staggering, considering how the sector had grown by only 19% in the prior quarter. Naturally, it has a lot to do with Palantir’s Foundry For Builders initiative. Foundry offers a comprehensive suite of big data services to its clients include operational decision-making insights, data integration, AI/ML models, and others.\nPreviously the platform was offered to its public sector clients, but that changed in the first quarter. Initially, it plans to target startups linked with its existing client base and then move on to the mass market with the program. Initial sales from these companies are likely to be low, but there’s plenty of room for growth and expansion. If any of these companies hit the big time and expand to bigger markets, Palantir’s revenues are likely to grow exponentially without any additional marketing spend.\nBottomline On PLTR Stock\nPalantir is a high-growth data company that has been killing it with its fundamentals. Its public sector contracts provide a steady and reliable revenue stream, while its private sector ventures promise future growth. With the management bullish on the company’s long-term growth potential, PLTR stock will continue to climb higher.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":218,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":808870826,"gmtCreate":1627570790065,"gmtModify":1633758172103,"author":{"id":"3582851950366557","authorId":"3582851950366557","name":"5392efd1","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3582851950366557","authorIdStr":"3582851950366557"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like pls ","listText":"Like pls ","text":"Like pls","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/808870826","repostId":"1123366891","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1123366891","kind":"news","weMediaInfo":{"introduction":"Providing stock market headlines, business news, financials and earnings ","home_visible":1,"media_name":"Tiger Newspress","id":"1079075236","head_image":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/8274c5b9d4c2852bfb1c4d6ce16c68ba"},"pubTimestamp":1627566203,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1123366891?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-07-29 21:43","market":"us","language":"en","title":"EV stocks surged in Thursday morning trading","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1123366891","media":"Tiger Newspress","summary":"EV stocks surged in Thursday morning tradingTesla,Nio,Xpeng Motors and Li Auto climbed between 1% an","content":"
EV stocks surged in Thursday morning tradingTesla,Nio,Xpeng Motors and Li Auto climbed between 1% and 4%.
\n

\n

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Resistance has become support and that’s typically bullish for a stock. It happens because of the seller's remorse.
\n
Before today's open, Walmart reported second-quarter sales growth of 2.4% year-on-year, to $141 billion, beating the analyst consensus of $136.88 billion.
\n
In January, Walmart crashed into a wall of sellers around the $149 level. They put an end to the rally and drove the stock lower. Many of these sellers thought they made a good decision.
\n
But on Aug. 11, shares broke through this level and traded higher.
