Wednesday","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2143375006","media":"MarketWatch","summary":"Despite the big spike in inflation, the Federal Reserve is set to signal on Wedesday that it is not ","content":"
Despite the big spike in inflation, the Federal Reserve is set to signal on Wedesday that it is not going to change interest rate policy anytime soon -- at least through the end of 2022, economists say.
\n
\"The message this week will likely be a heavy dose of 'still a long way to go' sprinkled with concerns about upside risks to inflation,\" wrote Michael Gapen, chief U.S. economist at Barclays.
\n
The Fed meets Tuesday and Wednesday this week against a backdrop of the consumer price index up 5% annual rate.
\n
The Fed is still buying $80 billion of Treasurys and $40 billion of mortgage-backed securities each month along with keeping its benchmark rate close to zero, in order to support the economy.
\n
Fed officials have guided the market that it won't scale back the asset purchases until it sees \"substantial further progress\" towards its unemployment target in particular as the economy recovers from the pandemic. Slowing back asset purchases would be taking the central bank's foot off the gas -- a long way from actually tapping on the brakes with higher interest rates.
\n
Economists think markets have been so far surprisingly complacent about inflation. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note has fallen to 1.5% from closer to 1.64% just after the Fed's last meeting in late April.
\n
Here's a look at what economists and investors will be watching for Wednesday when the Fed concludes the two-day meeting. Fed officials will release a statement at 2pm Eastern followed by a press conference from Fed Chairman Jerome Powell at 2:30 p.m.
\n
Inflation is transitory
\n
The Fed statement is widely expected to repeat the phrase that the pickup in inflation \"largely reflects transitory factors.\" The Fed may drive this point home in its updated economic forecasts. In March, the Fed had core PCE inflation at 2.2% in 2021, 2% in 2022 and 2.1% in 2023. The 2021 forecast of core inflation is likely to rise but the Fed is expected to keep 2023 core inflation unchanged.
\n
'Talking about talking about' tapering
\n
Fed officials are expected to discuss slowing down, or tapering, asset purchases, but only in a preliminary way without laying out any plans. \"We expect Chair Powell to stress that all, or almost all, participants, see tapering action as very premature,\" wrote Steve Englander, head of North American macro strategy at Standard Chartered Bank.
\n
Tolerate a rising expectation of higher rates over 2023-2024
\n
If inflation is more persistent than the Fed now believes, the central bank needs to signal it will do what it needs to do to keep inflation under control. \"In that record, the Fed will, if not encourage, at least tolerate, a rising expectation of [higher] rates over 2023 and 2024,\" said Bruce Kazman, chief economist at JPMorgan Chase, in an interview on Bloomberg Television.
\n
Consequently, the median dot on the chart that signal's the Fed's consensus could signal the first rate hike in 2023. In March, 11 of 18 top Fed officials thought policy would be unchanged. Only four of 18 officials were projecting a rate hike in 2022.
\n
Many other economists think it is still unlikely the median projection will change from the current rate close to zero.
\n
Will Powell repeat that the Fed is 'a long way' from its goals and 'some time' for substantial further progress?
\n
Jim O'Sullivan, thinks the Fed has to start getting away from this language, which Powell used to signal that policy would remain unchanged. \"The longer you leave it in place, the bigger deal it is when you drop it,\" he said. So he thinks Powell will no longer say that it will be \"some time\" before the economy reaches the benchmark of \"some further progress\" to allow the Fed to taper asset purchases. This won't be a signal of imminent tapering. \"It is not in the next three months -- it could happen by the end of the year. O'Sullivan thinks the Fed will show patience and not start tapering until next March.
\n
Rubeela Farooqi, chief U.S. economist at High Frequency Economics, wrote she wouldn't be shocked if Powell set out conditions for \"substantial further progress.\" This would go a long way toward removing uncertainty about when the Fed might reach the threshold, she said.
","source":"lsy1603348471595","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; Other HomeKit-enabled gadgets include air conditioners, video cameras, motion sensors, doorbells and lights.\nFor Apple, this strategy aims to position iPhone and Apple Watch as controllers for a wide variety of in-home functions, making them more valuable to current customers and discouraging them from switching to an Android phone when it is time to upgrade. Apple's smart home strategy could also boost Apple TV or HomePod sales, as these devices can be used as the smart home's hub.\n'Hey Siri' comes home\nPerhaps the biggest smart home announcement at WWDC for iOS 15, which will be released this fall, is that Apple said it planned to open up Siri, its voice assistant, to work with third-party smart home gadgets such asEcobee's Smart Thermostatlater this year. Soon, users will be able to say \"Hey Siri\" to non-Apple gadgets — matching an ability thatGoogle's Assistant andAmazonAlexa were already capable of.\n\"While we don't believe that Siri is a major reason why people buy Apple products, we do believe that the expansion of Siri into third-party devices could help drive the use of Siri and help support Apple's push into the smart home market,\" Deutsche Bank analyst Sidney Ho wrote in a note this week.\nThrough a supported third-party device such as the Smart Thermostat, users will be able to call Siri and send messages, add reminders, and even use family members' iPhones, Apple Watches and HomePods as an intercom.\nThere is one catch, though — the feature requires a HomePod or HomePod mini. Essentially, the third-party Siri gadget passes messages to the HomePod for processing.\nApple will also allow users to unlock their front door or garage with their iPhone — if the user has a compatible smart lock installed. While Apple didn't announce any devices this week, it did display a slide that said that top lock vendors such as Schlage and Aqara will support the feature.\nThere were also smaller, more incremental updates that users will appreciate. HomeKit can use Siri to schedule events, such as turning on smart lights every day at 7 a.m. Cameras can identify when a package has been delivered. Users can monitor HomeKit cameras on an Apple TV in full-screen mode and easily turn on lights or activate other gadgets in the scene.\nMost intriguingly, Apple has started to bundle one of the key smart home features as a paid service. Cameras are one of the most important smart home gadgets, and Apple is relying heavily on its privacy pitch to stand out against competitors such as Amazon's Ring, noting that it stores the raw footage in an encrypted, private way on iCloud called HomeKit Secure Video.\nTo get the most out of this feature, users will be required to subscribe to the upper-end iCloud service, which costs $9.99 per month for 2TB of storage. And, unlike Amazon, Apple does not make its own smart cameras, but relies on partners such as Logitech.\nFor the 50 third-party hardware makerswho support these features, HomeKit allows them reach a generally wealthy group of consumers without having to do a lot of the hard technical legwork to enable basic functionality. But it also means that they have to participate inApple's MFi accessory program, which means that Apple can exercise some control over what they launch through the program contract.\nApplesaid this week that it is backing Matter, a standard that is designed to allow smart home gadgets to work together, and Apple said it contributed some open-source HomeKit code. Amazon, Google and Samsung are also participating in the standard.\nIn a video session Thursday, Apple engineers said the goal for Matter is to ensure that smart home devices remain compatible for years to come and to make it easier to develop new gadgets and apps. For developers, HomeKit code will work with Matter without any changes required, Apple said.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":683,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":181362467,"gmtCreate":1623374684659,"gmtModify":1631891065662,"author":{"id":"3572311447359724","authorId":"3572311447359724","name":"HMHu","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/888bfb834561a78ede559705b3ce7ca8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572311447359724","authorIdStr":"3572311447359724"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Apple to the moon!","listText":"Apple to the moon!","text":"Apple to the moon!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/181362467","repostId":"1132770051","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":798,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":189452701,"gmtCreate":1623286487203,"gmtModify":1631891065676,"author":{"id":"3572311447359724","authorId":"3572311447359724","name":"HMHu","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/888bfb834561a78ede559705b3ce7ca8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572311447359724","authorIdStr":"3572311447359724"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Nice move!","listText":"Nice move!","text":"Nice move!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/189452701","repostId":"2142824312","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2142824312","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1623285052,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/2142824312?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-10 08:30","market":"sg","language":"en","title":"Biden revokes TikTok, WeChat bans and orders security review","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2142824312","media":"Bloomberg","summary":"A separate national security review into the sale of TikTok to an American company is ongoing and not connected","content":"
A separate national security review into the sale of TikTok to an American company is ongoing and not connected
\n
President Joe Biden is revoking Trump-era bans on the Chinese-owned apps TikTok and WeChat on Wednesday, June 9, and instead will review software applications from foreign adversaries that could pose a risk to Americans’ sensitive data, senior administration officials said.
\n
Biden, in an executive order, is directing Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo to evaluate the apps and block those that pose a security risk. The company revealed the update ","content":"
Apple (AAPL) has unveiled the latest version of iOS, dubbed iOS 15. The company revealed the update on Monday during its virtual Worldwide Developers Conference 2021, or WWDC.

The changes to the operating system that powers millions of iPhones around the world include new notification settings, improvements to Messages, changes to Photos, and more. Here are the biggest changes coming to your iPhone with iOS 15.

Big changes to FaceTime

The FaceTime app is getting an overhaul to make video chats feel more natural for users by adding spatial audio, which allows audio to sound like it's coming from the direction in which a speaker is positioned in a call. If they're on the left, the sound will sound like it's coming from the left, and vice versa.

The company is also adding a feature that focuses specifically on your voice, blocking out background noise, as well as a means to take in even more of the sound around you. The new FaceTime Links option lets you plan a FaceTime call via Calendar invites or share links via text messages. The company is even allowing users without iOS devices to join FaceTime chats via web links, which Apple says will be encrypted just as they are on the iPhone or iPad.

Apple also debuted a new feature called SharePlay that lets you bring music and shows into your FaceTime calls, allowing you to listen and watch with friends and family. Shared controls will also let anyone in the call pause and play whatever you're listening to or watching. You'll also be able to watch shows via iOS's picture-in-picture mode or you can extend them to your TV via AirPlay.

Apple says SharePlay will work with Disney+. Twitch, Hulu, TikTok, ESPN+, and other services. Then there's a new screen sharing feature that lets you literally share what you're seeing on your screen with your friends, so you can show them what you're looking at online, or give them a hand with a quick instructional walkthrough if you're having trouble using an app.

Messages and Notification updates

Messages, meanwhile, is getting updates in the form of a feature called Shared with You, that allows you to view all of the news articles, and videos your friends have shared with you over time in your Messages, rather than losing them amidst your stream of back and forth texts.

The Photos app is also getting a Shared with You section to see photos that friends have shared with you. Apple says the only photos that will appear in your Photos app will be those that include your face, to prevent your library from becoming cluttered with screenshots and memes.

Notifications in iOS are also getting updates with improved icons and a feature called Notification summary. This will allow you to schedule when certain notifications appear and are ordered by priority. Notifications from people won't be in the summary, though, to make sure you still get messages the moment they're sent your way.

There's also a Do Not Disturb mode for Messages that will let people know that you're not taking texts at the moment, whether you're in a meeting or having dinner. Of course, people can still cut in by calling or alerting you that it's important.

There's also a new focus mode that allows you to set certain notifications for things like work or when you're out of the office. If you're at work, for example, only notifications for work apps will come through. Out of the office, you'll get notifications for non-work apps.

Live Text, Photos, and more

A new Live Text feature can now capture text from photos and paste them as text directly into emails or other apps. If you see a phone number in a shot, you can tap it and call it. Apple is also adding object recognition for photos, so they'll be able to identify pets and landmarks. The company revealed the update on Monday during its virtual Worldwide Developers Conference 2021, or WWDC.The changes to the operating system that powers millions of iPhones around the world include new notification settings, improvements to Messages, changes to Photos, and more. Here are the biggest changes coming to your iPhone with iOS 15.Big changes to FaceTimeThe FaceTime app is getting an overhaul to make video chats feel more natural for users by adding spatial audio, which allows audio to sound like it's coming from the direction in which a speaker is positioned in a call. The company is even allowing users without iOS devices to join FaceTime chats via web links, which Apple says will be encrypted just as they are on the iPhone or iPad.Apple also debuted a new feature called SharePlay that lets you bring music and shows into your FaceTime calls, allowing you to listen and watch with friends and family. Shared controls will also let anyone in the call pause and play whatever you're listening to or watching. You'll also be able to watch shows via iOS's picture-in-picture mode or you can extend them to your TV via AirPlay.Apple says SharePlay will work with Disney+. Twitch, Hulu, TikTok, ESPN+, and other services. Then there's a new screen sharing feature that lets you literally share what you're seeing on your screen with your friends, so you can show them what you're looking at online, or give them a hand with a quick instructional walkthrough if you're having trouble using an app.Messages and Notification updatesMessages, meanwhile, is getting updates in the form of a feature called Shared with You, that allows you to view all of the news articles, and videos your friends have shared with you over time in your Messages, rather than losing them amidst your stream of back and forth texts. The Photos app is also getting a Shared with You section to see photos that friends have shared with you. Apple says the only photos that will appear in your Photos app will be those that include your face, to prevent your library from becoming cluttered with screenshots and memes.Notifications in iOS are also getting updates with improved icons and a feature called Notification summary. Out of the office, you'll get notifications for non-work apps.Live Text, Photos, and moreA new Live Text feature can now capture text from photos and paste them as text directly into emails or other apps. If you see a phone number in a shot, you can tap it and call it. Apple is also adding object recognition for photos, so they'll be able to identify pets and landmarks. It's something similar to Google's own Google Lens, though Google has years of experience behind its app, so it will be interesting to see how Live Text stacks up.On the Photos side of things, there are changes to Memories that allows you to customize the look and audio behind your memories, with Apple pulling songs from its Apple Music library.Apple has also announced that it will soon allow you to put your ID in your Apple Wallet. That means, in certain states, you'll be able to use your Apple Wallet to present your license. That's a major change, and goes along nicely with the ability to use your Apple Wallet to show your car insurance when you get pulled over.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":251,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":112197933,"gmtCreate":1622854697722,"gmtModify":1634097389366,"author":{"id":"3572311447359724","authorId":"3572311447359724","name":"HMHu","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/888bfb834561a78ede559705b3ce7ca8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572311447359724","authorIdStr":"3572311447359724"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Lol.","listText":"Lol.","text":"Lol.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/112197933","repostId":"1137938771","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":189,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":111430364,"gmtCreate":1622690732758,"gmtModify":1634099087889,"author":{"id":"3572311447359724","authorId":"3572311447359724","name":"HMHu","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/888bfb834561a78ede559705b3ce7ca8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572311447359724","authorIdStr":"3572311447359724"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Buy tesla while its cheap!","listText":"Buy tesla while its cheap!","text":"Buy tesla while its cheap!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/111430364","repostId":"1139859065","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":245,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":113258890,"gmtCreate":1622621776410,"gmtModify":1634099855722,"author":{"id":"3572311447359724","authorId":"3572311447359724","name":"HMHu","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/888bfb834561a78ede559705b3ce7ca8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572311447359724","authorIdStr":"3572311447359724"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Apple fan here. According to New York University Tandon School of Engineering professor Justin Cappos, opening up the iPhone would imperil every iPhone owner.
\n
“I think there's a very clear line to draw to say that if you let basically people go and run their own effective app stores,” Cappos told Yahoo Finance, “even if they're installing things like kind of within an app, the potential for malicious code and malicious behavior on the iPhone increases dramatically.”
\n
Of course, there’s more to Apple’s objection to having third-party app stores on the iPhone than simply protecting consumers. According to New York University Tandon School of Engineering professor Justin Cappos, opening up the iPhone would imperil every iPhone owner.\n“I think there's a very clear line to draw to say that if you let basically people go and run their own effective app stores,” Cappos told Yahoo Finance, “even if they're installing things like kind of within an app, the potential for malicious code and malicious behavior on the iPhone increases dramatically.”\nOf course, there’s more to Apple’s objection to having third-party app stores on the iPhone than simply protecting consumers. There’s also the 30% fee Apple collects on the sale of many apps and in-app purchases made through the App Store.\nIn other words, while Apple is right that it’s protecting consumers, its App Store dominance is not purely altruistic. And Apple’s argument that it’s safeguarding consumer data might not be enough to shield it from antitrust enforcement over an App Store store that House Democrats found enabled the tech giant to “generate supra-normal profits.”\nCook is right about Apple’s exceptional malware prevention\nIn the closely watched suit, Epic claims that Apple abuses its monopoly power over the App Store by forcing developers to use its proprietary payment system and paying Apple a 30% fee on sales of apps and in-app purchases. He contended that without patent protections, entities with much less experienced than Pfizer at manufacturing vaccines will start competing for the same ingredients.“Right now, virtually every single gram of raw material produced is shipped immediately into our manufacturing facilities and is converted immediately and reliably to vaccines that are shipped immediately around the world,” Bourla wrote. He predicted that the proposed waiver “threatens to disrupt the flow of raw materials.”“It will unleash a scramble for the critical inputs we require in order to make a safe and effective vaccine,” Bourla wrote.“Entities with little or no experience in manufacturing vaccines are likely to chase the very raw materials we require to scale our production, putting the safety and security of all at risk,” the CEO wrote. The White House referred CNBC’s outreach on Bourla’s post to the Office of U.S. Trade Representative, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment.World Trade Organization leaders have recently urged member nations to come to an agreement on the potential vaccine patent waivers. But even with the U.S. backing, a deal is hardly guaranteed, since the WTO’s rulings are based on consensus, requiring approval from all 164 members.Germany, a WTO member and the largest economy in Europe, came out against the waiver proposal on Thursday.BioNTech, which partnered with Pfizer in developing the vaccine, is based in Germany.Bourla on LinkedIn also expressed concern that the possible vaccine waivers “will disincentivize anyone else from taking a big risk.”“The recent rhetoric will not discourage us from continuing investing in science. But I am not sure if the same is true for the thousands of small biotech innovators that are totally dependent on accessing capital from investors who invest only on the premise that their intellectual property will be protected,” the CEO wrote.PhRMA, the pharmaceutical industry interest groups whosemember companies includePfizer andJohnson & Johnson, another U.S. vaccine provider, called the waiver proposal “an unprecedented step that will undermine our global response to the pandemic and compromise safety.”Meanwhile, CEO Stephane Bancel ofModerna, maker of the other U.S.-approved Covid shot, saidhe wasn’t concerned about the possible waivers.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":93,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":364808031,"gmtCreate":1614829242623,"gmtModify":1703481678138,"author":{"id":"3572311447359724","authorId":"3572311447359724","name":"HMHu","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/888bfb834561a78ede559705b3ce7ca8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572311447359724","authorIdStr":"3572311447359724"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Good move.","listText":"Good move.","text":"Good move.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/364808031","repostId":"1166414886","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":204,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":155330913,"gmtCreate":1625373765032,"gmtModify":1631891065561,"author":{"id":"3572311447359724","authorId":"3572311447359724","name":"HMHu","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/888bfb834561a78ede559705b3ce7ca8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572311447359724","authorIdStr":"3572311447359724"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yolo!","listText":"Yolo!","text":"Yolo!","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/155330913","repostId":"1160702483","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":668,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":182693809,"gmtCreate":1623566472901,"gmtModify":1631891065635,"author":{"id":"3572311447359724","authorId":"3572311447359724","name":"HMHu","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/888bfb834561a78ede559705b3ce7ca8","crmLevel":5,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3572311447359724","authorIdStr":"3572311447359724"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Its crazy.","listText":"Its crazy.","text":"Its crazy.","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":3,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/182693809","repostId":"1185020128","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1185020128","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1623537503,"share":"https://www.laohu8.com/m/news/1185020128?lang=&edition=full","pubTime":"2021-06-13 06:38","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Meme Stock Soars 1,000% To Lead These Two Top Small Cap Stock Plays","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1185020128","media":"investors","summary":"GameStop may be the top holding in SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Value, but that's not the only reason the ","content":"
GameStop may be the top holding in SPDR S&P 600 Small Cap Value, but that's not the only reason the ETF is beating its growth-stock counterpart.
\n
The $4.2 billion value fund tracks the S&P SmallCap 600 Value Index (SLYV), composed of stocks with the strongest value traits based on book value to price ratio, earnings to price ratio, and sales to price ratio.
