It also has a booster dose authorized for certain segments of the population. This action has been criticized by some as doses that are being taken away from the poorer global populations.</p>\n<p>The company, along with rival Moderna (MRNA), has come under increased pressure by global advocacy groups to produce and donate more doses to the world instead of focusing on boosters in rich countries.</p>\n<p>The U.S. has promised more than 1 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines globally, of which about 200 million have been shipped to-date. But experts say more doses are needed.</p>\n<p>Pfizer announced plans to open a manufacturing hub with South Africa's Biovac Institute and anticipates it will be operational by early next year. Until then, donating more doses from the U.S. — which is already administering third doses domestically — remains a short-term solution.</p>\n<p>Other countries have also asked to be allowed to donate their unused doses, and recent reports suggest the contract with the company was a barrier.</p>\n<p>Bourla told Yahoo Finance that within two days of receiving such a request, Pfizer has been able to work with the country to allow sharing of doses.</p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Biden administration supports waiving intellectually property (IP) rights, a proposal sent by India and South Africa to the World Trade Organization, to encourage the transfer of technology to middle- and lower-income countries to increase global capacity. But not everyone will be able to get it right away.</p>\n<p>Starting Tuesday, Windows 11 will be available as a free download to existing Windows users depending on the hardware and age of their PC device.Microsoft&nbsp;(MSFT)&nbsp;previously&nbsp;said&nbsp;its \"phased and measured\" approach to introducing the new operating system will begin with Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come preloaded with Windows. Users will be notified when they're eligible for the update from now through mid-2022.</p>\n<p>While the update isn't quite the substantial change from Windows 8 to Windows 10 that came out in 2015, Windows 11 features a handful of notable design changes, including a new interface that is intended to bring \"a sense of calm and ease.\" A new Start menu shows recently opened files, regardless of which device was used. The court asked in July and September for responses from the two companies.</p>\n<p><b>Why It’s Important:</b>Nikola argued in 2018 that Tesla was causing “confusion in the market” by using similar designs in its highly anticipated semi-truck.</p>\n<p>Nikola argued for $2 billion in damages for lost sales from Tesla.</p>\n<p>Since the lawsuit, Nikola has gone through several changes and highly public negative events. Nikola founder and former CEO<b>Trevor Milton</b>was indicted for&nbsp;fraud in July. Milton was released on a $100 million bond and currently awaits trial.</p>\n<p><b>Price Action:</b>NKLA shares traded at $10.66 on Friday. The lawsuit could officially come to an end with Nikola ending communication with court officials.\nWhat Happened:In 2018, Nikola filed a lawsuit against Tesla for patent infringement. Nikola accused Tesla of mimicking its design on items like the wraparound windshield, mid-entry doors and aerodynamic fuselage.\nNikola’s lawsuit also said Tesla tried to hire the company’s chief engineer.\nNikola “has dropped the ball and this 2018 action is languishing without explanation or apparent good cause,” Judge James Donato wrote in an order last week, as shared byThe Verge.\nNikola now has until Oct. 6, 2021 to show in writing cause for the case to continue and not be dismissed.\nBoth Nikola and Tesla stopped responding to the Northern District Court of California.
