Speaking of Roku in Europe...
Back in the Winter of 2017 I never heard of Roku. I believed it was a relatively unknown back then, in fact even today you can find people who've never heard of it --- a good thing since it still means Roku has untapped potential for growth. So, back in 2019 I was in Austria and while talking to a college kid working at a resort for credit, I was amazed that he knew all about Roku. I realized then that given Roku's characteristics as the underdog, value-oriented massively capable platform, it would eventually do well in Europe. It just needed time to penetrate the market and become accessible to everyone, preferably already installed on purchased TV's. That's the key.
The fragmented, value-oriented, diverse market in Europe is exactly the kind of place Roku should be able to thrive above and beyond the competition. When you consider the benefits of a unifying platform into a market so inherently confusing you begin to see the growth potential. Add into the mix an already healthy distrust of$Alphabet(GOOG)$ Google and Amazon$Amazon.com(AMZN)$ across the Atlantic -- more distrust than exists here -- and you have the potential of a massive growth runway on a continent with a larger population than North America.
Roku is just getting started.$Roku Inc(ROKU)$
