Total outstanding consumer debt increased by $37.7 billion to a record $4.32 trillion in June. For the second quarter, consumer credit rose at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 8.8%, reflecting pent-up demand.</p>\n<p><b>The Federal Reserve</b> releases the beige book for the sixth of eight times this year.
