rule out a 10-year Treasury Note yield as high as 2.25% this year.\nThat’s the message from Wells Fargo Securities’ Michael Schumacher, ahead of Wednesday’s Federal Reserve interest rate decision.\n“The fiscal stimulus is enormous, and the vaccine rollout seems to be accelerating quite a bit — not just here in the U.S.,” the firm’s head of macro strategy told CNBC’s “Trading Nation” on Tuesday. “A lot of things are coming together to push yields up.”\nYet, Schumacher said his firm doubts Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will show immediate concern.\n“He’s been pretty sanguine about the whole increase in yields. We think he’ll maintain that stance tomorrow,” he said. “Our view at Wells Fargo is he will not really try to slow it down.”\nInstead, Schumacher said he expects Powell to link rising yields to a vote of confidence in the economic recovery and to indicate it’s a catch-up move for having low inflation for such a long time.\n“The world has never seen a coordinated reopening like this, ever. Not even after World War II,” said Schumacher. He said he thinks Powell will signal a willingness to let inflation run above its 2% target for “awhile.”\nIn December on “Trading Nation,”Schumacher predicted Covid-19 vaccines would dramatically boost confidence and lift Treasury yields in 2021. So far this year, the benchmark 10-year yield is up 77%. On Tuesday, it closed at 1.62%.\n“Yields began this year — if you focus on the 10-year Treasury — just north of 90 basis points. The electric car maker slid by as much as 5.2%, and ended the trading day down by 4.4%.</p>\n<p>That decline was likely primarily due to a broad pullback in the prices of manygrowth stockstoward the end of the session.</p>\n<p><b>So what</b></p>\n<p>The&nbsp;<b>S&amp;P 500</b>&nbsp;market index retreated from a gain during the middle of the trading day to end it down by 0.2%. Lots of growth stocks, however, fell by several percentage points or more.</p>\n<p>The bearish trend in the market during the last few hours of trading reflected caution on Wall Street ahead of a news conference Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will hold Wednesday. Some investors may be concerned about how his remarks could impact the market.</p>\n<p>Tesla has been an especially volatile stock this year, rising to a price just above $900 in January and then falling to below $550 in early March. The price has recovered quite a bit in the past couple of weeks, but Tuesday's decline left the shares at about $677. Given that Tesla is a growth stock in its purest form, such wild volatility shouldn't be considered unusual.</p>\n<p><b>Now what</b></p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Tesla management says it expects vehicle sales to soar by more than 50% in 2021 compared to 2020, when it delivered about 500,000. Analysts have big expectations, too. On average, they're forecasting the company's fiscal 2021 revenue will increase by 53%.</p>\n<p>The problem, of course, is that high expectations are already baked into Tesla's stock. The electric car maker slid by as much as 5.2%, and ended the trading day down by 4.4%.\nThat decline was likely primarily due to a broad pullback in the prices of manygrowth stockstoward the end of the session.\nSo what\nThe S&P 500 market index retreated from a gain during the middle of the trading day to end it down by 0.2%. Lots of growth stocks, however, fell by several percentage points or more.\nThe bearish trend in the market during the last few hours of trading reflected caution on Wall Street ahead of a news conference Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will hold Wednesday. Some investors may be concerned about how his remarks could impact the market.\nTesla has been an especially volatile stock this year, rising to a price just above $900 in January and then falling to below $550 in early March. The price has recovered quite a bit in the past couple of weeks, but Tuesday's decline left the shares at about $677. Given that Tesla is a growth stock in its purest form, such wild volatility shouldn't be considered unusual.\nNow what\nMeanwhile, Tesla management says it expects vehicle sales to soar by more than 50% in 2021 compared to 2020, when it delivered about 500,000. Analysts have big expectations, too. On average, they're forecasting the company's fiscal 2021 revenue will increase by 53%.\nThe problem, of course, is that high expectations are already baked into Tesla's stock.
