Shortly before noon Thursday, shares of 15 EV makers were all moving higher, thanks to Wednesday’s mammoth IPO of Rivian Automotive Inc. (NASDAQ: RIVN).
\n
Rivian, of course, was leading the pack, while the shares moving up the least were those of Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA), the first and largest by far of EV makers. That’s after BofA Securities raised its price objective for Tesla from $1,000 to $1,200 on Wednesday. Analyst John Murphy and his team also raised their price objectives for Lucid Group Inc. (NASDAQ: LCID) from $30 to $60 and for Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR) from $18 to $24. The firm gave Tesla and Fisker a Neutral rating while awarding Lucid a Buy rating.
\n
BofA also maintained its price objectives on two other EV makers. Canoo Inc. (NASDAQ: GOEV) and Lordstown Motors Group Inc. (NASDAQ: RIDE) both carry a $5 price objective and Underperform ratings.
\n
One interesting note in BofA’s analysis is its summation of Tesla’s dominance:
\n
\n It is debatable whether any of the start-up EV automakers will ultimately be dominant over the long run, especially in a very competitive industry where the traditional automakers are also ramping up EV efforts. However, if a large global footprint can be built with no-cost capital, the “growth” story will likely continue to carry the day for the stocks. In fact, on our revised price objectives, our analysis suggests that a 10% dilutive equity raise for TSLA could fund 40+ incremental plants and 10mm+ units of capacity, which would make TSLA effectively the largest global automaker, while a 10% dilutive equity raise for LCID could fund 3+ incremental plants and 750k+ incremental units of capacity, which would make LCID a relatively large global luxury automaker.\n
\n
Left unsaid there is that Lucid is never likely to catch up to, let alone pull ahead of, Tesla. That message also applies to Rivian, according to Murphy’s team:
\n
\n As has proven [to be] the case for TSLA over the past decade plus, the higher the upward spiral of stocks for the EV OEMs, the cheaper capital becomes to fund growth, which is then rewarded by investors with a higher stock price. The inverse of this dynamic is also true, and it is this self-fulfilling framework that has explained the extreme moves in TSLA stock in the past, and it is a helpful framework to think about how start-up EV automaker stocks may trade in the future.\n
\n
The downside risks to the group chasing Tesla include drying up of low-cost capital, inability to convert orders into sales, and failure to ramp up production. Upside risks include customer enthusiasm for the vehicles, successful execution of business strategies and incremental government stimulus for EVs.
\n
Rivian stock traded up 24% Thursday morning, to post a new high of $124.00. or slightly higher than Keppel's original offer of S$2.099 per share.
\n
In a release to the Singapore Exchange late Tuesday night, Keppel beefed up the cash component of the offer by S$0.20 per share to S$0.868 per share. SPH shareholders will still receive 0.596 Keppel Reit units (valued at S$0.685 as at Nov 9) and 0.782 SPH Reit units (valued S$0.798 as at Nov 9) per SPH share.
\n
The revised offer implies a total equity value for SPH of S$3.8 billion.
\n
\"The cumulative value of SPH Reit and Keppel Reit units offered has increased by S$0.052/share with improving market conditions,\" Keppel said in the release.
\n
Keppel's initial offer comprised cash of S$0.668 per share, 0.596 Keppel Reit units (valued at S$0.715) and 0.782 SPH Reit units (valued at S$0.716) per share.
\n
Based on the SPH REIT and Keppel REIT traded prices since the initial offer, the final offer implies a range of S$2.201-S$2.355/share. SPH shareholders will be receiving Keppel REIT units at a 10 per cent discount to its net asset value, Keppel also highlighted.
\n
Meanwhile, SPH and Keppel have entered into a supplemental letter to amend the implementation agreement and revise the terms of the scheme of arrangement.
\n
In a separate release, SPH - which publishes The Business Times - noted that the revised offer represents an improvement of 12 per cent over Keppel's original offer, as well as that of Cuscaden Peak's.
\n
It is a 57 per cent premium to the undisturbed trading price on March 30 and a 9 per cent premium to the last trading price on Nov 9.
\n
SPH said: \"Following Cuscaden Peak's announcement on Oct 29, SPH notified Keppel of the proposal and gave Keppel an opportunity to improve their current proposal. Keppel's revised scheme consideration is the outcome of SPH's engagement with Keppel to improve their proposal.\"
\n
Keppel highlighted that the final offer is \"firm and irrevocable\" with regulatory approvals obtained from MAS and the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) of Australia.
\n
The higher cash consideration is expected to increase Keppel's pro forma net gearing post-transaction by 0.03x, with pro forma net gearing expected to remain below 1x.
\n
Subject to the approvals of both Keppel's and SPH's shareholders at their respective extraordinary general meetings slated for around Dec 8, as well as the sanction of the scheme by Singapore's High Court and the completion of SPH's media restructuring exercise, SPH shareholders can expect to receive the final consideration by mid January 2022.
\n
Loh Chin Hua, chief executive of Keppel Corporation, said: \"Taking into account improving global economic conditions as well as growing synergies which we have identified between Keppel and SPH's portfolio, Keppel is offering SPH shareholders a higher and final consideration of S$2.351/ share.\"
\n
He added: \"Even with the additional cash consideration of S$0.200/share, we continue to see value in the SPH portfolio.\"
\n
Shares in Keppel shed three cents to close at S$5.31, while shares in SPH closed one cent higher at S$2.16 on Tuesday.
","source":"lsy1636420184263","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n<meta http-equiv=\"Content-Type\" content=\"text/html; or slightly higher than Keppel's original offer of S$2.099 per share.\nIn a release to the Singapore Exchange late Tuesday night, Keppel beefed up the cash component of the offer by S$0.20 per share to S$0.868 per share. SPH shareholders will still receive 0.596 Keppel Reit units (valued at S$0.685 as at Nov 9) and 0.782 SPH Reit units (valued S$0.798 as at Nov 9) per SPH share.\nThe revised offer implies a total equity value for SPH of S$3.8 billion.\n\"The cumulative value of SPH Reit and Keppel Reit units offered has increased by S$0.052/share with improving market conditions,\" Keppel said in the release.\nKeppel's initial offer comprised cash of S$0.668 per share, 0.596 Keppel Reit units (valued at S$0.715) and 0.782 SPH Reit units (valued at S$0.716) per share.\nBased on the SPH REIT and Keppel REIT traded prices since the initial offer, the final offer implies a range of S$2.201-S$2.355/share. SPH shareholders will be receiving Keppel REIT units at a 10 per cent discount to its net asset value, Keppel also highlighted.\nMeanwhile, SPH and Keppel have entered into a supplemental letter to amend the implementation agreement and revise the terms of the scheme of arrangement.\nIn a separate release, SPH - which publishes The Business Times - noted that the revised offer represents an improvement of 12 per cent over Keppel's original offer, as well as that of Cuscaden Peak's.\nIt is a 57 per cent premium to the undisturbed trading price on March 30 and a 9 per cent premium to the last trading price on Nov 9.\nSPH said: \"Following Cuscaden Peak's announcement on Oct 29, SPH notified Keppel of the proposal and gave Keppel an opportunity to improve their current proposal. Keppel's revised scheme consideration is the outcome of SPH's engagement with Keppel to improve their proposal.\"\nKeppel highlighted that the final offer is \"firm and irrevocable\" with regulatory approvals obtained from MAS and the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) of Australia.\nThe higher cash consideration is expected to increase Keppel's pro forma net gearing post-transaction by 0.03x, with pro forma net gearing expected to remain below 1x.\nSubject to the approvals of both Keppel's and SPH's shareholders at their respective extraordinary general meetings slated for around Dec 8, as well as the sanction of the scheme by Singapore's High Court and the completion of SPH's media restructuring exercise, SPH shareholders can expect to receive the final consideration by mid January 2022.\nLoh Chin Hua, chief executive of Keppel Corporation, said: \"Taking into account improving global economic conditions as well as growing synergies which we have identified between Keppel and SPH's portfolio, Keppel is offering SPH shareholders a higher and final consideration of S$2.351/ share.\"\nHe added: \"Even with the additional cash consideration of S$0.200/share, we continue to see value in the SPH portfolio.\"\nShares in Keppel shed three cents to close at S$5.31, while shares in SPH closed one cent higher at S$2.16 on Tuesday.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":964,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":844402250,"gmtCreate":1636448860665,"gmtModify":1636449054157,"author":{"id":"3580799026700204","authorId":"3580799026700204","name":"37472a9a","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580799026700204","authorIdStr":"3580799026700204"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$SIA RISING","listText":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$SIA RISING","text":"$SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$SIA RISING","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/10fd0fb22bcd3e874343628ffb16b63c","width":"1080","height":"1920"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/844402250","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1203,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0},{"id":845484743,"gmtCreate":1636361482501,"gmtModify":1636361482790,"author":{"id":"3580799026700204","authorId":"3580799026700204","name":"37472a9a","avatar":"https://community-static.tradeup.com/news/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":1,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3580799026700204","authorIdStr":"3580799026700204"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$EINDEC CORPORATION LIMITED(42Z.SI)$Eindec rising","listText":"$EINDEC CORPORATION LIMITED(42Z.SI)$Eindec rising","text":"$EINDEC CORPORATION LIMITED(42Z.SI)$Eindec rising","images":[{"img":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/a40ce11ecea551ecde91a3ec5c4dc88f","width":"1080","height":"3075"}],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://laohu8.com/post/845484743","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1018,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":1,"langContent":"CN","totalScore":0}],"defaultTab":"followers","isTTM":false}
